{Texture Tuesday} Dedicated to the 'Groupies'

Dear friends,

Welcome to another Free & Easy Texture Tuesday..... so glad you stopped by.

As I've mentioned ..... the summer theme for TT will be Free & Easy...... simply share a favorite photo textured with at least one of my textures.....that's it that's all.

I am dedicating today's TT to a lovely group of women that I appreciate SOOOO MUCH. The Groupies....... I love how you all found each other through Beyond and TT.... how you have joined together to share and encourage one another...... I love that I can be a part of your creative journey.... it's a honour... Thank you.

Today I went to the post office....and found the loveliest surprise from the groupies. I cried like a baby when I opened the box.... 2 beautiful silver charms.... faith and believe.....by Stacie. So perfect.....I immediately added the charms to my chain, right there in my car....I will draw strength from these words and from each of you.... Thank you my friends.

As I walk the halls of the hospital....I'm constantly reminded how blessed we are. We have each other, our boys, our family... friends.... all of you. I see so many people, alone... lost....sad... sick.... with no one by their side...no one to hold their hand or say I love you.....It breaks my heart.

We are surrounded by love and support.....how could we not believe? trust? keep our faith?

so good to be home with him for a few days......He's warmed right up to Grandma & Grandpa...(especially Grandma... he loves the ladies) ..... so glad they live across the street... it makes shared custody with Brett much easier.......

I'm so thankful Ben is loved and cared for while I'm in the city.... such a gift.... Thank you Grandma and Grandpa....and Brett too of course! Some of you may know I never leave Ben alone...... which I know seems crazy..... But, it's the truth.... Then this happened.... Oh my....

Believe it or not... Ben hasn't spent one minute alone since all this began.....
Thanks to Brett, Mom & Dad, family, dear friends and amazing neighbours..... You know the saying.... 'it takes a village.....'.... Well, ummm, yeah... it takes a village.....

John and I bought 3 cans of stain for the front porch..... I'm afraid it may have to wait til next summer.... in the meantime I'm embracing the rustic look. :)

Lately.....

Hello my friends,

How are you? I hope well. Just popping in to say hello.... from Home Sweet Home... 

I'm here for a few days.... catching up on my work, home...life.... and yay.......pretty picture taking.... getting ready for my new class.... Start to Finish. I've been dreaming of this class forever......I'm so excited for it to begin. Did I imagine it under these crazy circumstances? Not at all...... But I'm trusting things are as they should be....and everything will work out just fine.

Yesterday Ben and I spent some time outside...snipping daisies and lilacs... a little swing on the front porch.... Gosh it was nice... My oh my......how I wish John was home with us.

I want to say thank you again for the sweet wishes....love... support... prayers... pretty pictures. John and I are so grateful. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

John is hanging in there.... doing pretty well considering the battle he is in. He started his second cycle of chemo last Thursday.... from what we are told this is the second of 4. Each cycle runs for 21 days..... with the possiblity of extra days in between depending on how his body reacts to the treatment. 

I am home for a few days trying to get ahead....  John may be able to do part of this second cycle on an outpatient basis. This will mean living in Winnipeg during that time, going back and forth each day for check-ins etc.....

My Friday Find

Today I am sharing pretty pink blossoms.... gosh I love them!! I look forward to them every year. Last week while I was in Winnipeg I prayed the blossoms would still be here...waiting for me.... And they were.

Our 2 little trees (John planted just 2 summers ago) are over-flowing with beautiful pink blossoms....If only they could last all summer.

Then the other day while in town, I discovered the most beautiful yard with cherry trees overflowing ..... spilling out onto the walk. I'm so glad I took my camera along...

A few blocks down.... I found this beautiful home.... just had to jump out and capture it...Such a dream! Don't you think? I'm a sucker for brick houses.......

Summer Classes...

one week, five days and fifteen hours later....

As I type this ….. it's been one week, five days and fifteen hours since John's doctor sat us down to say....your test results came back… your white blood cell count is high…..

Since then.... it's been a whirlwind…

Driving into the city…. a flood of doctors, nurses….tests….. waiting…. 

24 hours laters…. John you have A.L.L…. (leukaemia). Here's the plan…..
I barely remember all the information coming at us…. just that... treatment would begin immediately and John wasn't leaving the hospital anytime soon.

There are no words to describe it.....no way to prepare yourself for such a shock....
I wish we didn't have to go through this. I wish nobody did.

The truth is, cancer happens ….we are not alone or unique….. families fight cancer every hour, every day…….I'm so thankful John doesn't have to fight it alone. I know there are many out there...battling this disease all on their own.... 

Here's what I know for sure….today…this moment….

John is strong…John is faithful…. John is hope-filled…. John is not alone…..John can beat this.

We are strong….We are faithful….. We are hope-filled…. We are not alone….We can beat this.

Through this storm….there have been many blessings….. every single day since this journey began we have been showered with so many.

from early detection, to fast action….. to caring doctors… compassionate nurses….. exceptional care….  

from a small home town that loves John….reaching out…asking to help…. 

from our town's Lions Club arranging a suite for us to stay while in the city…… 

from my parents right across the street looking after Ben when Brett's working…. to our neighbours digging up gardens, planting flowers and cutting our lawn.

In a small town you are never alone. For that… I am so grateful….. 

I also have to say ... people are genuinely good.

quick story...
The first night at the hospital... I was lost…looking for the parking lot…. a stranger took mercy on me…. helped me find my car….. she then proceeded to give me her name and phone numbers….even offered me a place to stay….. We had never met before…..

Since then there's been so many people reaching out ….friends, family and strangers….offering places to stay, rides in the city…… help with my site, my classes….  our yard… 

So grateful....

John is hanging in there... he's had up days and down days..... through it all he's been such a trooper.... he doesn't complain...he just takes it all in stride.... He's a fighter...for sure....I'm so very proud of him..... 

This week I am easing back into my work….. finding my way.

I won't say it's easy…It's so very difficult.....it feels really strange… almost wrong…. picking up my camera was even a little scary…. 

There's something very difficult about moving forward when your love is stuck standing still…… 

I want you to know….. I appreciate all the love and support you have sent our way. So grateful.

I must sign off…. I am home for one more day…then back into Winnipeg I will go. Must keep busy....
