today's journey
today we went on a winter excursion....
and traveled probably no more than 60 miles...
but found an abundance of goodness....
at least to me, old and worn, falling down, abandonment is extraordinary.
i dream about what once was, who lived there... the stories that once were.
each trip finds new surprises, just waiting for someone to take notice.
my oh my we trudged through some deep snow... but it was completely worth it.
andy insists on exploring right along with us...
in fact he would like to lead the way.
but the snow is so deep, he needs us to break the trail.
poor old fellow even needs a lift now and then.
just look at this old house.
i imagine it was quite the place in it's day.
sad to think that it was just left to fall.
but it felt like it wants to just hold on... hold up...
we peeked in thru the broken windows... old loneliness in every corner.
and then it was time to head back to the road...
trudge, trudge... worth every step.
oh, that's the frost falling off the trees. it wasn't snowing. :)
happy weekend... here's to discovery!
i will be back mondayish with a new painting video to share...
xxo, kim ♥

Looks like you had a most wonderful day! I love your finds and the lovely photos you've posted! I secretly long to go with you on one of these adventures:)
this is the exact same thing my hubby and I like to do on weekends....any house or barn alone and abandoned is our favorite find !
Looooove what you did with the photos! Looks like a great day outside ;)
o how i love old abandoned houses, and you capture them so beautifully!
hey I really like those last 2 shots of your husband. Aw, your poor Beagle -- I'm so glad you help him and carry him a bit. That must be hard on him :)
They're all really great shots.
The house is amazing. The lines of the roof are extraordinary. After getting to know Andy over the past months I found myself a little teary-eyed looking at these photos of him. Such a happy pup.
And the one of your hubby trudging away amidst the falling frost kinda struck me as profound.
Sometimes you photos take me to a very contemplative place Kim. (Although I don't have far to go.)
That old house is fantastic! Love it. My favorite is the 4th image down.
Kim, this series of images is so beautiful. I would have loved to have been there..the snow and the home with so many memories, it made me a little sad..
I can't wait to see some more from your adventures.
Kim, these images are exquisite...how fun.
Beautiful capture of yesteryear. I would love to go "house hunting" with you...that would be so fun.
Neat that hubs is game too...love that!
Great day of exploring, love your photos. Makes me a bit sad to see those grand old homes falling down and abandoned.
Your photos seem to me a great way to preserve them.
Such beautiful images, Kim. You do abandoned buildings like no other photographer I know! I love that Andy accompanies you on all your adventures! What a sweetie he is!
