Speaking of Get out of your Own Way - Just Start

Happiest Friday....How are you?

Are you ready for the weekend?

Popping into share a fab freebie texture with you...

Also wanted to remind you of this recent post....and share a little further inspiration!

Julia Cameron's January 7th devotional from the Artist Way Everyday.

"I learned to get out of the way and let that creative force work through me.  I learned to just show up at the page and write down what I heard.  I didn't have to be in the mood. I didn't have to take my emotional temperature. I simply wrote."

Good stuff, right? And it totally ties in with our recent discussions....

Tell me, how are you doing, so far... Have you had a chance to dive in.. and get started?

I'd love to hear!

Okie doke... Here's today's freebie texture... I used it on the image above.... as well on Mr. Ben below.... and speaking of Ben... Oh my goodness... he's doing so well!  Thank you for all the lovin!!  He's soaking it up, BIG TIME! 'sigh'

Photoshop Tip: Sometimes a texture can simply be used to warm up an image!  Add the texture, add a soft light blend mode.... apply a gaussian blur filter to the texture layer...  and poof...  warm and lovely! Give it a try with today's texture...and let me know how it goes.

Thanks Kim for the texture. It looks beautiful and so soft. I have not had luck with the Gaussian Blur. I don't think I'm using it correctly. I am hoping that it's a part of the Skinny class. Just started week 2. I love the tip you taught today about borrowing the layer mask!

Oh, I'm so glad that Ben is doing better! He's got such a precious face, I could give him smooches all day. Thanks also for the awesome texture - it's going to be one of my favorites, I can tell!

Can't wait to try the texture to warm up a photo as you suggested using the blur. And I'm delighted that Mr. Ben is doing so well.

January 7, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterAnn

Tried it right away using one of your other textures (warm grunge) and it REALLY makes a nice difference--subtle but significant. And easy as can be. Love that! Thanks!!!

Still working on that getting-out-of-my-own-way thing....

Beautiful post and great reminder. I've felt my creative mojo dry up in the past few weeks - I need to get out of my own way.

January 9, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterJamie S

Oh, that Ben is such a heart breaker! Gorgeous, him and the new texture...

January 9, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterkelly

Thank you for another fine texture. I use gaussian blur filter quite a bit, but had not tried in on a texture; looking forward to that. Last night, I had a thought and decided to hop out of bed, and then get out of my way; I simply wrote, without looking at the screen, without spell checking, just laying down the thought that arose. I haven't even looked at it yet this morning, but It felt good to let it flow. Thanks again for your time and work.
