A Series of Unfortunate Events

mouse over to see the before ~ textured with today's freebie confusion

Oh dear sweet technology.... how I adore you...... But gosh... you definitely test my patience when you decide to take a break from your sweet and smooth ways.....

My repetitive line this past week.... 'give me strength'.... over and over....

Hello.... Oh my... I will not bore you with the details... but oh dear... have I had some tech troubles this past week. The line 'a series of unfortunate events' comes to mind.... I'm trusting all will be sorted soon.

In the meantime I have some updates.

The TT changes are coming...I promise.... However.... due to my 'issues'... I'm afraid I must leave you hanging for another week.

Rather than missing out on TT completely... how bout a free & easy eDition?

So please feel free to pop in tomorrow and link up your fav textured photo.....

I do have a lovely little texture to share today.... I call this gem... confusion. I used it on my sweet peony photo above.

Take a peek.

Before I go... I have a little video to share....

I've been practicing making films with my new nikon... dslr video is NOT much to learn... anyhow....a little snippet of our afternoon on the front porch.... Ben is sharing his 'tricks'..... so darn cute.

the handsome guy with the dog treats.. yep that's my hubby.... or as Ben calls him... Daddy. :)

Deep breaths.... thanks for your patience... have a perfectly perfect week!

Kim, I'm so sorry about your series of unfortunate events...don't you hate it when that happens? On a happier note, your video is so lovely!! There's just something about the combination of film and music that hits my heart in a beautiful place. Your dog is such a sweetie! And those flowers are gorgeous, too. Thank you for the texture! I look forward to using it.

Oh, this is super cute!!! I'll have to remember to link up some of my texture photos tomorrow. I've been using some of your freebies a bit more as I'm experimenting with Photoshop. It's so much fun :) :) :)

Thanks for today's texture. Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather :)

My favourite quote when things start 'getting out of control' is "Lord give me patience - if you give me strength then I will need bail money to go with it". I do sympathise with you, I have also been having some technical issues which seem to be taking forever to sort out.
Take care

Awwww, your video is exquisite, Kim! Ben is super duper adorable! :D
When we read "A Series of Unfortunate Events" in your email, we thought something bad happened, so glad we were wrong. :) We had many tech troubles this past week too, first with out external hard-drive, then with our laptop and DSRL. Argh! Why this kind of things tend to happen together? LOL! :)
Have a fab new week, Kim! xo

Ah, Kim, so sorry about your "series of unfortunate events". I have had some technical ones as well today. But through several searches on Google about it, I finally found the answer and whala it is all better now!
Thanks for the texture (awesome as ever) and for the uplifting video!! Your pup is sooo cute! :-) We miss ours a lot.

Hi Kim,

Thank you so much for the beautiful texture, and for sharing Ben with us. Adorable with a capital "A"! I hope that your technical issues all come together for you soon.

I have run in to two different bloggers lately who have been using your textures and singing your praises. One is currently in your Beyond Layers course and takes gorgeous photos. You have touched so many people!

Have a lovely day!

Hi Kim,

Isn't it the way when we're at our busiest! It's almost as if the universe were saying "Hey you, you with all that on your plate . . how about slowing down for a second?" ;-) After watching you navigate Photoshop so brilliantly I have no doubt that you'll conquer the present challenges your facing.

Oh and the video . . . what a lovely video and glimpse into your world. I love the nostalgic feeling you've created and seeing beautiful and ever so brilliant Ben.

Thanks for all you so lovingly do, and go through to share your inspiration.

technology challenges teach us to slow down, take stock of what's important and - disaster recovery planning! I live in earthquake country, so I have to be cognizant of it.
June 18, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterTina
Well, I think having the cutest puppy doing tricks makes everything else seem insignificant! ;)
thanks for the video!
Hope it all gets worked out soon.

SO sorry about your week.
I think it was a tense one for many - ostensibly something to do with a variety of planetary alignments. There are times when I think it's almost better to not look - but at least checking in with my favorite astrological prognosticators helps to know when to keep my mouth shut and stay out of the proverbial line of fire !
Remain calm!

I'm about as well trained as Ben - when I open one of your posts, I automatically mouse over to see the changes!

Oh Kim, I'm so sorry to hear about your technical difficulties. I do get how disruptive that can be. We I was self-employed, I would literally panic when my computer did bad things. I know you'll come through this swimmingly. See you on the other side of it. And oh my, Benny Boy is simply adorable and so, so talented. ;->
Love love this video!! I am such an idiot ... all this time I thought so many of the flower shots were in the 'white room' ...duh, they were on the porch!! And Ben is a hoot!! My baby girl (wheaten) likes to keep the action going with the same crazy paw 'paw'. And girlfriend ... if that is your sweet hubby he's dorbs!
June 18, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterColleen
I'm always up for a video with a pup in it. :-)) You're right... he is cute!

Kim, I feel for ya, I've been there and its no relationships with computers. thank you for the texture, love the rockers on your porch and of course the peonies and dog are both adoreable.
June 18, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterMichelle
so cute! but who is the one who is trained?...your husband or your dog? I think your dog has it pretty well worked out. Lovely video and the music matches beautifully and such a delightful front porch. Technical issues can be such a pain - I am often reminded that I must backup backup and backup again......hmmm better go and do that! cheers! and have a wonderful week.

Technology is great when it is working and so frustrating when its not! This too shall pass. Love, love, love the video. Ben is so cute and clever.

Hang in there, Kim! If it is any consolation I have been having wonky things going on with Photoshop lately. I think my computer truly needs a rest, too. I will pray that everything will resolve itself quickly. Thanks for the continual generosity and inspiration!

Thank you for the video! It was really sweet and I love your sharing a moment of your life. Is it still cold where you are? You have on long sleeves in June! Hope your technical issues resolve themselves very soon.

i'm still INE a series of unfortunate events, it all started when my iMac exploded, then i got ripped off buying a used mac, then i tried to buy another new iMac on my birthday, and the apple guy was rude to me, so i vindictively said that i was going out to buy a windows machine, which i did, and while i waited for them to box it up, it came on the radio that steve jobs had just died, and i felt like i had killed him... my windows machine lasted for about 5 months with windows before a virus took it out, and i'm on linux now, with no photoshop, no itunes, no nuthin' ... and no money to buy a new Mac... PLUS i'm sick of wordpress, to the max zoom dweebie, and i've moved back to squarespace, which is fun, but they don't have thumbnail archives/categories for photoblogs, which makes me crazy, and of course there's no way of exporting a squarespace photo blog, as they only export text, so i'm just generallly in a bad tech mood these days haha, feel for ya sister...

Hi Kim,

Love your blogs, posts, classes and textures! But imhave to ask what is that beautiful music that is playing in the background of your fun video? I love it! So peaceful and the strings...ah, I hope to discover a new musican.

Best Regards

Sooo sorry to hear you are having issues! I feel like I have jinxed you! I aid stalled OS lion on my Mac and now my elements9 won't work! I am ready to tear my hair out! Adobe has the worst tech help on the planet....won't help unless I pay for phone support and won't help at all on live chat.... Grrrrr anyway It looks like I will have to upgrade to elements 10 even tho my elements 9 is only 5 mos old:-/. Heading to the city tomorrow ....need to go to the zoo! Sigh....

Super cute video. Thanks for "confusion" .. very pretty!
June 18, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterGail
Kim, I am fairly new to your website, but after looking at your video I have to ask if Ben is a labradoodle. He honestly looks like the male duplicate of my dog, Bailey, who is first generation labradoodle. I'll send you a photo if you like. . . you won't believe how much they look alike.

Thanks so much for all your textures and generosity in talent and spirit. And I'm totally envious that it is cool enough there for you to wear long sleeves; it's sure not that way north of Houston, TX where I live. I'm jealous!

I so would love to do those videos with still photos and moving pictures, that was lovely. Someday I have to buy camera with video ability, until then....thank's for the lovely texture.
June 18, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterHenrietta
ah, what a wonderful video, Kim! One could never guess there was any technologically-induced stress going on! thanks for the delightful moments (actually I watched it about ten times!). I think you just lowered my stress level about ten decibels. .. the music, the rich visuals, a front porch (is there any better place?) and the playful interaction between hubby and Ben. Soul balm :)
June 18, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBarbara
Oh I loved your beautiful video with the lovely music and bright colors from the flowers contrasting against the vases. Thank you for another sweet texture. I'm still learning how to upload them to my photoshop.

Can you share the name of the music you were playing in your video?

Thank Y♥U,
Lee Ann

Oh Kim ... technical issues are such a pain but seem to be a daily occurrence during these days of high technology. I have my fill weekly it seems.
Don't fret, when in doubt uninstall whatever you installed prior to the issues. Find a really good Geek friend, walk away from it for an hour, have a cuppa ... on your beautiful front porch and go back with a refreshed mind.

LOVE Ben! ... That was the cutest thing ever, OMG ... I love that you shared those moments with us. Smart puppy .... I was watching his face knowing exactly where his treats were coming from ... what a joy!

Beautiful Peonies, ... they are such a romantic flower! Our lilacs are done now. I'm aching to get my BL assignments up to date. You are such a gem ... this was a delightful video. I don't have that capability on my old D2X ... but someday.

Wishing you success with resolving your techie issues. Don't worry about the rest of us, this stuff happens.
Now ... remember to breathe, everything will work out.

June 19, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJoy
I hate it when that happens! And technique moves in such mysterious ways. It's sweet and lovely and caring one minute, next minute it snaps, it breaks down with no reason at all. I always tend to start trying all kinds of things just to make it work again, but the only thing that mostly does is make things worse... plus, I often don't know what I've done which makes it hard to fix etc. etc.... It's a vicious circle. Time to go: grrrooaahh!!**((%% or watch your giggle video with Xanthe :)
I'm currently struggling with technical issues too, but they're "pleasant" ones. Three days ago I bought myself a brand-new I-Mac 27". Being a pc-user all my life, it's quite a difference. The Mac is just, well, Great! but all the transfers that have to happen (photo's, Lightroom, waiting for CS6 to arrive...) just give me sleepless nights. But as I said: they are pleasant technical issues and they don't come unexpected, so.
And first, I will be off for a little vacation next week on a small island in the North of Holland, just nature, sea and quiet.
Take care Kim, and in case you need some extra "quiet", give me a sign, I'll send some over with DHL :-)

Hi Kim,
Loved your video and am hoping that you will teach us how you did it. Good to see Ben "in action" and your sweet hubby.
The music is so pretty too. Thanks for the texture.

Technology... it's a love, hate relationship for sure. Thankfully, we have blessings like Ben :) No, I don't think he could be any cuter, but then he might surprise you... Thanks for the video, Kim, it was inspiring! and thanks for the great texture. Only you would have such a gift in the midst of your trials :)
