Cuppa Cuppa - Texture Love

mouse over to see the before image

Hello my sweet and oh so FAB Texture Tuesday friends....

I'm so pumped about this challenge...and I can not wait to see what you all come up with this week! I'm seriously impressed with the ART you all are making!!

So, I have to apologize... I wanted to put together a little recipe for this image... but time is short as I prepare this post.... Please be sure to pop back later today. I will update this entry with the recipe. I promise!

Just a reminder today's link-up must be a coffee or teacup photo... textured with at least one layer of any of my textures. :)

Texture Tuesday, May 10th Challenge Details

I'm going to leave next week wide open for you... NO CHALLENGE... just share your fav textured photo of the moment....

If you are new to Texture Tuesdays, click HERE for the details.

Okie doke.... let's get to it! Shall we?

Please share your 'Cuppa Cuppa Texture Love'!

Update: I'm back with the as promised Image Recipe.

Okay, if you have yet to discover Nelly Nero actions... You are in for a TREAT. Click HERE to check them out. I love the time capsule set.

I used one of her fabulous freebie actions, called shabby suitcase on this image.  I then added 2 different textures from The Studio Collection.

Here's how it all went down.

Opened the SOOC image, ran the Nelly Nero action called Shabby Suitcase.  Loved the result. Fab Vintage Feel.

Here's the image after I ran the action.

Then I added 2 layers of one of my all time fav textures - Empty Page (from The Studio Collection). One layer at soft light 100% and one layer at multiply 44%.

Here's how it looked after the empty page texture was added.

I was about to call it done... happy with the grungy feel....  but thought wait... what if I added a little more GRIT?

Enter another fav from The Studio Collection - Plaster 2. Because the image colors were soft, I thought i would try the color burn blend mode.... on a heavily pigmented image you can get some funky stuff going on.  But with this image it was exactly what I needed.  I bumped the opacity down to 83% and removed a little from the cup.

Final result.....

and that my friends... was that.

OH and p.s. - I can't take it... I want to visit every single fabulous cup photo....immediately.  'sigh'...  amazing!!!  So good!

It's just amazing to me how a simple texture or two can totally change a photo! Your sleek, modern-looking vignette becomes a wonderful vintage scene....just like that!

You'd think my husband would get used to walking in and finding me photographing things - but this morning snapping shots of my coffee mug chilling on an old stool I have in the kitchen seemed to have caught him by surprise! LOL, I told him there is a texture challenge at Kims... he said "of course there is!" looking forward to trying out some fun textures, the idea of double layers sounds like a fun try today.

Hi Kim! Hate to bother you but I need some help! I've taken just about every class you have offered but I am stumped on this problem. I'm trying to make a Shutterfly book and I can't get my photos the right size to fill out whatever size page I'm trying. Photos keep getting cropped! I save for web at 600 pixels and just save for PSE5 the same size. How or where can I custom size my photos? I'd like to have some square photos but Shutterfly offers many different page size layouts. Like I said, I'm stumped. Can you help me?

Thanks for Texture Tuesdays! I now have a reason to post every Tuesday!

Hi Kim :)
May I a teacup texture party once a month? This is such a wonderful challenge, and I love seeing everyone's choice of cup!! NO one is exactly the same, and they're all so beautiful! :) I love the tea parties, the patterns, and the earthenware mugs. Everyone has really out-done themselves today.

I happened to see this on someone else's blog and had to jump in! What fun! This reminded me of what fascinated me about Photoshop when I first started using it. I would blend layers for hours. And yet, I learned something new today. I used the simple things sample, she loves you yeah, and one word textures. Thank you!

Very lovely image and I loved how you shared the recipe and those freebie actions . . . I downloaded today and loaded them into PS . . . first time I've ever figured out about those actions that I'd been 'hearing' about on the internet. I ran one and whoa . . . that was interesting and easy! Sometimes I feel like I should not let others do 'my work' for me but in this case, I think I'll just let that go : ) Did not have time to figure out a photo of a cup for this Texture Tuesday party, but I'm enjoying see everyone else's work . . . keep up all your great work!
