Today's find.....A Creative Conversation ...lead to a ton of Inspiration.....

The Story

I'm sure most of you know my lovely London friend, Xanthe..... She's an amazing photographer...and film maker.... We met almost 3 years ago at the first Shutter Sisters retreat...... This friendship has been one of life's loveliest gifts...

I was really nervous about going to that first retreat... As most of you know....I'm a full on... self-proclaimed introvert... Going to California to meet a bunch of people I'd never met was a BIG leap for me....

Anyhow, the very first night... we all gathered, as contributors, for dinner. At the bar... most were ordering cocktails, while I was ordering my usual Diet Coke..... and... so was Xanthe. That's how it all started.... a Diet Coke... too funny. We ended up sitting beside each other for dinner that first night.... We just 'clicked'.....A TRUE friendship was born.

The retreat was mind blowing...... an incredible experience.... No exaggeration when I say.... LIFE CHANGING.

There's amazing power in real life connection with people who 'get' you. I had no desperately I needed that connection.

Xanthe and I are different in many ways.... But at the center ...we are two artists ...determined to do.... what we love... because we can't....not do.... what we do.

After the SS retreat we connected via least once a week... sometimes more..... We talked life, love.... fears .... creative ideas..... and everything in between.

We met the following year in California for the best 10 day creative adventure.....ever....
and then.... Cancer happened...We missed our trip to California in 2013.... but through it all... we affirmed.... 2014!!! We will meet again.....

More on this to come....soon.

Back to my Friday Find... the creative conversation....

Lately....our visits have been spotty... at best....But this week... Oh my gosh!! We met on skype and talked through our thoughts... ideas... and more....Talk about bubbling up and over....

We needed this... so much!! We re-committed to regular connections!! Gosh darn....It's a MUST.

Some BIG ideas were born.... Things just seemed to fall into place.

So much to share....

Bottom Line.....Creative conversation with people who get-it ..... INCREDIBLY powerful!!

We have some BIG plans in the works.....centered around creative conversation....and connection.

We don't have all the details just yet.... but we'd love to give this a go......

Beginning with a Give Away session ....

Xanthe and I....would love to sit and have a virtual cuppa via skype with two lovely creatives... Might one be you?

Pick our brains, share your thoughts, dreams,, photography, film, IG.... questions? . We're open.

If this give away session, interests YOU, please leave a note in the comments...or if you prefer, send a private message HERE.....

Always love to see you here... Thank you for sharing your finds.....

Here's to a beautiful weekend....

Love & Gratitude.... ♡

Wow, first off, I love the faded green and blue shades. Talk about peaceful….Second a creative jam session would be pretty cool, rather stretching, but that would be good, maybe even a little directional which I'm sure most of us could use once in awhile.

Friends who "get" us, like Xanthe are so precious. They add ballast to our ship to keep it steady when the water gets choppy and the weather turns stormy. I wish you well with your creative partnership. You sound like soul-mates. All the best and thanks for hosting the blog-hop, Bonny

I'd love to have a creative conversation with y'all; I, too, am always looking for connection, and feel drawn to this opportunity. Have a fantastic rest of your week.

Kim, Thank you again. . .and again. . . for hosting this link-up. Your photographs are my go-to for inspiration. And today's images, so soft and sweet, are sheer perfection. I used to try to take pictures, "like Kim," and now I realize that only you can be you, and so I am growing into my own as a photographer, and this feels good! Of course, I'd love to share a conversation with you and Xanthe - and I can't wait to hear all about your plans and hopefully to be a part of the adventures with you. I love that we are a group that collaborates rather than competes, one that cares rather than criticizes, and one that supports and encourages always. This goodness and kindness stems from your lead.

Your images are absolutely stunning ... sigh ... so soft and dreamy. I love the handwritten letters - so perfect for a post about connections, and I'd love to connect with you and Xanthe ...

Wow, what an opportunity you are giving two very lucky people. I would love you to put my name in the hat.

Good luck everyone !!

knowing that I have a busy weekend ahead, your flower images are the soothing touch I needed...and yes, I want my name in that hat...would be an incredible experience to share with both you and Xanthe
hi Kim, your photos are so soft and lovely...I adore the calm tones. You are so lucky to have found a friend like Xanthe who "gets" you. Too many of my friends admire the work I do ... but at the same time are perplexed as to why I do it. I always tell them that "I need to" ... but I know that they do not get it. It is so wonderful that you have built this community of like minded souls ... thank you for all your inspiration!

Kim, I loved your and Xanthe's "Reflection of You" class - the two of you are amazing together! I feel very fortunate to have discovered your blog (and your textures and classes). And then through your blog, discovered Xanthe's blog and to follow virtually in her adventures. I'm so glad that you and Xanthe are reconnecting!

Your images are amazing! Love the softness and the calm, quiet beauty.

Thank you for sharing your fears, ideas, love, and interest's of life and creativity. You have a sharing spirit which is a rare gift. Love your Friday Finds, very peaceful. I would love to have my name placed in the virtual hat.

A resounding YES! to all that this post entails. There are few things in life sweeter than a friend that "gets" you! I can't wait to hear more of your Creative Connections. I can not think of two women/artists with whom I'd love to sit and have a chat more than you two!

I'd love to have a virtual cuppa with you & Xanthe. And even if I don't, I love hearing about how you expanded yourself creatively, such as by leaving your comfort zone and making a new friend at an event that you weren't sure about attending!

Kim I found a quote the other day on a mug that said ' real friendship knows no distance' and I think that is so true. I would so love a c hat with you and Xanthe it would be a big step for me showing myself beyond the screen lol....It would be a sort of leap as I would then have to acknowledge the possibility of putting myself out 'there'. I know you get that....

Creative conversations, connections, life changing awakening, stepping out of my box, direction, all needed. You inspire me with your photography and creativity. Would love to listen in!

Beautiful images today, Kim. And....oh my gosh, a creative chat with the two of you. That would be spectacular. You're the Best!

How fun to talk in virtual person :) Sounds like a great idea and something I would love, to get advice from two creatives that have journeyed the path ahead of me. I agree completely about in person connections. I just had another one yesterday and it was everything I could have hoped it would be and so much more.

It is almost with trepidation I am responding; I would love to have a virtual chat like so many others; would love to hear "up close" about your inspirations, hopes and dreams, and also share with two who "get" living the artful life. Thanks for the opportunity! Your classes have been a big part of my artistic journey.

LOL I have to laugh with Sarah, trepidation. Yep! Fear has totally kept me from commenting. But my word for this year is courage! Haaahaa. If only I could muster up some with the one thing that I want to share with the world the most, my photography. But perhaps that is why I stand back and hesitate. Anyway, it would be fabulous to connect with you two, and to be inspired by everything that is inspiring you.
