My Friday Finds

Gosh I love receiving gifts in the mail..... and my oh my...... it's been a fabulous mail week...

First, a BIG thank you to Cheryl for the most beautiful story book  .... check out the illustrator's name...... 'fraid it's not my hubby.... 'smile'....but so cool. The book is a work of art...extraordinary....The story.... so sweet and hope-filled.... Also in the package....two lovely bars of soap from Anthro.....picture perfect!! Can't wait to try your favourite soap Cheryl. But, I'm not going to open them just yet... I believe a few more photos are in order..... Thank you lovely.

Before I move on....
So many friends, from near and far.... sent cards and gifts.... during our cancer journey. Please know... we appreciate each and every gesture..... I hope to share photos of all the lovelies.... over the next few months.....I wish I kept up.... with the thank you posts and notes during our journey.....But honestly... when you are in-cancer.... you do what you can do....and some days... that's simply surviving.

I'm so thankful for everything.... There are days.... all the kindness.... encouragement.... generosity.....completely overwhelms me... and tears begin to flow..... I will be...forever grateful.

I also received a copy of Decorate with Flowers by Holly Becker & Leslie Shewing...It's a beauty.....I've only had time to flip through.....but from what I've seen so's full to the rim with lovely inspiration. I'm saving it...for a little 'me' time..... When all is quiet....and I can really soak it up.

More on it soon....  LOVE it.

Okay... this didn't come in the mail.... It's simply a shot of the 4 x 6 prints I made this week.... I'm so pleased with how they came out.... simple, sweet reminders of perfectly...imperfect....wabi-sabi.....goodness....

A Little Give Away

I'd love to send a set of 6 to THREE lovely commenters....If you'd like a set... please leave a comment below. I will announce the 'picks' in a few days.

One more photo....cause you know I love the blur.... 'smile'....

The winner of a spot in Start to Finish is Karen. Karen wrote:

Hi Kim! it's always so nice and...comforting to read your posts. Just find time to enjoy 'Decorate with flowers' you really deserve it and just seems the perfect book for you! :) Also congrats Jon for his book, I did'n't know he was also an artist! Take care and happy weekend!

Kim, Thank you for sharing your Friday Finds. I will definitely check out the books you received as gifts - and the soaps, too. It brings back so many memories when you share the cards and gifts of encouragement you received while your family was in-cancer. Our journey with cancer included many such gifts. I remember especially the many people who gave gift cards for gas so that I could make the 100 mile round trip every day to see my husband while he was in the hospital for over a month. I love your resilience and your genuine sharing of yourself and your talents. Today's photos are beautifully blurred. Can't wait to hear all about what's next! Hope your neck feels better. Time for a massage?

Dearest Kim, I, too, was given the book 'Extra Yarn' by a friend just two weeks ago! Isn't it delightful and hopeful? I was stunned to see a picture of it in your post this morning. The book is especially meaningful to me since I am a prolific knitter and spinner, as well! Enjoy it and have a great day.

What beautiful finds -gifts! They all look amazing. When people care for me like that, I feel like it is the hug of God! He's so there for you and John. Your cards are lovely and if I would win a set that would be wonderful. I wasn't able to join in on the perfectly imperfect but I am inspired to look for it and capture it! Blessings. Sarah

Many thanks again for hosting this meme for us to share our weekly finds. You certainly had a wonderful week full of finds! I adore the simplicity of the note cards you created. I have heard of wabi-sabi but have not tried to create it in any of my own work. Stunning!

What lovely books! Maybe I can find a copy to enjoy! As always, love your images; so soft and peaceful! I'm sorry that you've hurt your neck. I know from experience that neck problems can be very painful! Take care!

Stuff in the mail is the BEST! It's even more fun when I can't remember what I ordered which is often. Your cards would be wonderful to send out or make a disply for my wall. I'm sure every one understands if you don't acknowledge every thing, if not they should check their motives. Have a blessed Easter weekend.
April 18, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterRoxi
Hope your husband is doing well ... Have a Happy Easter!

I am like so many others posting here. I love seeing your postings come through. Even if the day is busy, it's refreshing to read them and see your beautiful photos. It reminds me to take time and enjoy. I went to "the city" today. The trees and tulips were in full bloom....sigh. It took my breath away. We are always a couple of weeks behind so I have something wonderful to look forward to. Keep up your wonderful work. It such an inspiration for me to continue to learn and enjoy the process.

Happy spring to you and yours.

As usual, what wonderful images you create and your stories that go with them are so awe inspiring.

Thank you for all the sharing and inspiration you give out. Unfortunately, we are heading into winter, and, fortunately, I have your photographs to remind me it is spring in another part of the world.

Love the gifts you have received, and love that you share them with us.

Kim, I happened upon the concept of wabi-sabi about a year ago. As one who has always embraced the old and worn, "perfectly imperfect" most of my life, I felt an immediate kinship! Your photograph was beautiful and a perfect illustration of wabi-sabi.
April 18, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterSandi Terry

There is something so wonderful about a gift arriving by mail, and nothing says "you're special" quite as much as the unexpected gift. Thank you for sharing them with us, and for inspiring us to open our eyes and look for perfection in the imperfect. The decorating with flowers book looks beautiful; a perfect read as we head into the most beautiful time of year for flowers.
