My Friday find....... Noteworthy

Hello lovelies.....

How are you? Happy Friday. My goodness the weeks zip by in a hurry. Don't they?

I have a few fun things to share with you today.....

Many of you have heard me talk about OmmWriter.... I LOVE it. It's such a beauitiful writing software....In fact, I'm writing this post in OmmWriter. It's a wonderful way to write... distraction-free.... Beautiful, gentle backgrounds, soft music and wonderful keyboard sound options. You can find more details about Ommwriter here.

Moving on.... they have an awesome new app for the iphone and ipad.... Notegraphy. Perhaps you've heard about it... If not..it's definitely worth checking out.

It rethinks the way we write and share text online through design.

I made the uptop Fab Friday Finds logo using the notegraphy app. I'm imagining fabulous quote block making..... Think Instagram meets graphic design..... Here's what the amazing makers say about this new app.

Four years after giving birth to Ommwriter, we still feel that computers are not the friendliest environment for words.

With this in mind, we came up with Notegraphy, a mobile and web application that rethinks the way we write and share text online through design. In just three simple steps: write, style and share, your text will look as good as it deserves.

For that, we have collaborated with some of the world's best graphic designers to create diverse and beautiful ways to style your text.

With only one month since we opened, there are more than 175000 Notegraphers sharing their words in a beautiful way. And this is just the beginning.

For further details check it out here or visit the App Store on your iPhone or iPad.

 Noteable Friday Finds.......

I love stationary..... notebooks... notecards... pretty paper... beautiful pens. I know we've talked stationary/pen love here before....

Today I'm celebrating 2 fab stationary finds....

I spotted the Merry & Bright cards several weeks ago.... at Chapters. It was LOVE at first site. At the time Christmas seemed so far away.... It wasn't easy, but I left the lovely cards behind. Here we are... 19 days from Christmas. I was in Chapters yesterday and the cards were on sale! It had to be done.... Aren't they wonderful? Perfect Picture Prop... don't you think?

If that wasn't enough goodness for one stop....On my way to the check out... I spotted some sweet Thank You notecards... Goodness knows... I have so many thank yous to send out....

I snapped these photos this afternoon.... Friends, I miss my light at home.... so much. Especially now that winter is HERE..... There's some big windows in the common areas... but the overhead lights can be frustrating.... it takes away from the natural light... I should have asked Bryce to hold a reflector over the scene.... But my time, as it often is.... these days ....was limited.

I had to put Lightroom and Photoshop to work.... to make these photos share-worthy.....

Edited first in Lightroom... then textured and script-stamped in Photoshop. Thank goodness for post-processing....

'smile'.....

my wish for you...and you...and you..... xo

I'm sure you have some Fab Friday Finds of your own.....  I can't wait to see ..... Don't be shy.....

Before I say goodbye... I gotta ask....

Are you sending out Holiday Cards this year? I'd love to hear a bit about them... What are they like?

Maybe you make your own... or send out Photo Cards? Do tell.....

Do you make an annual holiday letter? That's something I've never done.... But my oh my... could I tell a story this year... 'smile'....

What do you look for in the perfect stationary? For me...it's typically a matte finish.... simple design....and lovely typography..... How 'bout you?

Until next time.....Love.... and gratitude....forever and always....

Link away.... lovelies....

xo,

As a child I can remember the excitement of the arrival of the first Christmas card of the season. It was the beginning of a pile of beautiful cards that would proudly be displayed all through the Holidays. I haven't send cards in over 20 years but each year, in the first week of December, a card arrives from Aunt Joan. It's the only card I receive each year and it marks the beginning of the Holiday season for our family. Aunt Joan is nearing 100. And each year I wonder if this will be the last card. But year after year it arrives and touches our hearts and instills in us the wonder of this blessed season. For us, Aunt Joan IS Christmas personified.
Thinking of you and your family Kim and hoping that you will enjoy a Holiday season filled with as much joy as you can gather during this difficult time. Much love...Cat

Wow! You've got some good finds this week, Kim. I will have to definitely check out OmmWriter and Notegraphy, thanks so much for sharing! :)

I am not sending out cards this year, by the way, no. I will send them via the net, easier that way and while I usually send out real cards, this year I'm going to do the net thing for a change.

Happy Friday,

Angie :)

I love that first photo! It would make a beautiful card. I make all of my own cards, I have since I was 8 : ) This year I am sending out close to 65 cards and they took me forever! I machine stitched on each one. Enjoy the days leading up to Christmas!

Beautiful photos of your finds! The apps sound intriguing - will have to take a look at them!

Last year I used photo cards for the first time and really enjoyed putting them together - I used the kind that have a window where a photo can be placed. I had so much fun that I'm doing it again this year, a little differently, though... I purchased card sized photo paper stock that i can print on directly - so far they've come out beautifully and I can't wait to get them in the mail to family and friends!

I love your photos in this post - was that cheesecloth underneath the one set-up - that's a great idea! And I am so sad - the Notegraphy software sounds terrific - but I am not an Apple girl!
Yes! I send out cards - how wonderful it is to get real mail!!! especially at the holidays - keeping touch with those I don't want to loose...just a quick note lets me know how their life is...
I don't know if you knew this or not - I have a line of cards - been doing this for over 10 years - though initially they were all handcrafted from recycled and vintage materials, they are now digital reproductions of my original collages... I welcome you to check it out -

if anything strikes your fancy, I'd be happy to rush mail it to you gratis...

I loved the new app finds Kim, already put one on instagram. :) I couldn't find a price on the computer software but will search around more for it.

Yes I send out Christmas card about 35 this year, it does seem to get smaller as every year goes by though. I design my own in CC and send to a printer, I enjoy thinking of what I want to do and then find a way to make it happen. It seems more and more of my friends and family though are not sending out cards but are instead deciding to call or e-mail instead.

Thank you for the great finds this week and as always your photos are wonderful, love all the interest in each of them. xoxo

Oh Kim! WIth your lovely photos Christmasy photos this morning, and a fresh blanket of snow on the ground here, I feel like a kid on Christmas morning. Knowing it was snowing, I was up early with "snow excitement"! Yes, I do send Christmas cards and this year, used one of my own images and had post cards printed. They will be delivered to the post office today. They have just enough space to write a short note. I'm not a fan of "year long news" letters to send or receive; I much prefer a nice handwritten paragraph. Thank you for the Omm Writer tip…it sounds wonderful.

As always, I'm in LOVE with your photos!! True inspiration!

Kim - I love the photos!! Can you share what lens you use to take a picture like these? I love how some of it is clear and some blurry. I know I don't have the right lenses. Hope you all have a very merry christmas and that 2014 is a very blessed year for you and your family.

Back in the day, before home computers and printers I owned a Personalized Invitation & Stationary store - in the Eaton Centre, so I'm also a Toronto girl here. I still love paper and typography.

My year is topsy-turvy and I have yet to create my cards. For the last 25 years I have sent family photo cards to most, handmade cards to my artist friends. However, my married child didn't come home for Thanksgiving (the first time we weren't all together), so I didn't get a family picture--and I've been rather at a loss for what to do! Add to that my shoulder surgery in October and a nasty bout of bronchitis, and I am so far behind I may send out Valentines instead!

It is a new season of life and I will adapt...eventually.

I have LR5 and the Perfect Effects. They did just update Effects to version 4 so if anyone does have that program, you can download Effects 4 for free to use with LR. Even if you have never used PE before that module is always free.
You can not add text with Effects, but I think that at some point they will add that functionality. If I need to add text I use GIMP.

And should you have difficulties with Perfect Effects ,they have wonderful free tutorials and wonderful tech support. I had an issue with getting PE4 to work and they were very willing to work with me and suggesting different things to try. And if it did not work, they offered me a full refund.

I am still trying to figure out how to organize photos in LR. Part of my problem is that I had a couple of years of pictures already organized in Windows with folders and I know where stuff is and how to find it quickly in windows but LR is a whole different ball game.

Kim,
I love coming to your blog. There is a feeling of peace in the midst of turmoil, and calm in spite of busyness. You are an inspiration. I come away with a light, and peaceful heart. Thank you for sharing your life, and family with ours.
