My Friday Finds

How are you? Happy Friday!!

I had 2 beautiful quotes/poems sent to me this week...... both with similar messages..... A message I needed to hear!

Perhaps.... you need these words too?

The up top.... on my photo.....

'Whatever the present moment contains, accept it as if you had chosen it. This will miraculously transform your whole life.'

-Eckhart Tolle

The Second.....below.... Wow.. this HIT me smack dab! Thank You Bridget.

 Texture - waterfront 10

And So.... I read the words..once...then twice.... again....and....once again....

I believe the words..... in this moment.... right now....
I embrace the words....

I wish I could promise.... I will...
never go back...
to the sadness, the sorrow... the doom, the gloom..... the longing for what was, the fear of what's ahead.........

But...honestly..... that's pretty much impossible.....
there will be rough days ahead.... That's life..... Cancer... no cancer... Life is challenging....
We are all human....some days we just can't quite rise above.....

And promise.....

to trust look for the light....
to be UP more than down... to be HAPPY.... more than sad....... HOPEFUL more than hopeless.....
One day at a best to embrace what life has in store....

A Friday Find Story & Quite Possibly The Biggest Gift Cancer has Given us.....

Along this cancer journey..... I've mentioned the endless gifts we've received..... So many acts of kindness, small miracles, extraordinary so many gifts....

Today, I want to share a BIG one with you all.

I mentioned before..... Bryce is staying in Winnipeg with us..... We are living at A Port in the Storm. We've made forever friends here....Kindred Spirits. Such a huge blessing.....a true gift!

Bryce has been working on a film about our cancer journey at A Port in the Storm.... It's been an amazing experience........ Transforming.....even.

He put together a teaser for his very first film.... If you have a moment please take a peek......

This clip fills our hearts....
We see cancer... but we also see LOVE... laughter...and so much HOPE... and for that... we are.... forever grateful.

The Latest on John

John is unofficially out of the hospital.... He goes back and forth 3 times a week for bloodwork etc.... (it's called day/night). He spends at least 4 hours each visit waiting on blood work, then receiving whatever treatment may be required. Slowly the visits should taper off..... as he begins to improve.

Friends, please continue to pray for him. He's never been this weak, tired.... just plain worn out. He's also dealing with post-transplant issues known as Graft vs. Host.... He has such a long road to recovery..... We have been told to plan on staying in the city for 100 days post-transplant... I think we are on about day 20.... 80 to go.

A long road....home..... Deep breaths.....

Before I sign off.... the winner of the What Katie Ate Cookbook is......Susan Wilde

Congrats, my friend.....Please drop me a note, including your mailing address, so I can get your lovely cookbook on its way....

Until next time.... gratitude....forever, and always.....

p.s. the Waterfront Collection is coming..... so close.... really...truly... :)

Beautiful words to go with stunning fall photos. I'm glad to hear you are ON the road . . . keep doing what you do . . . even though you write that you are having trouble rising above . . . your photos say otherwise.

Kim, that Rumi poem is one of my absolute offers such strength to hold onto. I continue to send prayers every day to John...and your son's teaser film is beautiful. In just a short couple of minutes, he's managed to capture the beauty of the human spirit. I can't wait to see the film in its entirety! He has a gift. Thinking of you! <3

Kim, your photos are lovely. I hope that John continues on the road to recovery.

Bryce's film is going to be great. Has he thought about starting up a funding campaign (on kick starter, or something similar)?

Such a wonderful film teaser by Bryce. He is remarkable to be putting his heart into this difficult time for all. The Tolle quote and Rumi hold much of the secret to being a human in this universe. They can take a lifetime to practice. My image for you for Texture Tuesday was about "looking to the light". And you are, clearly!

LOVE the trailer Bryce!! As they say down South "You done good!" And that IS a compliment. Kim, my prayers remain with John, you and your entire family. Remember your promise you just shared with us and ALL of Blessed!

Marvelous!! Having made my own cancer journey I know the terrors that come in the night...the fear...the just give up or just get it over with. But what JOY Bryce has captured in this piece...these are people dealing with the possibility of death but look at their faces...the hope and the laughter!! Thank you for sharing!!!

You touched my heart today. Thank you. It was just what I needed. Know you are in my thoughts. Try, you and your hubby to have atleast 3 hearty laughs a day. Let utube help you out. Some times it is followed by some tears because you never thought you would laugh again and that's ok. Take care you will beat this!

Kim & Bryce this is totally unexpected to find in email today and equally exciting. You have a wonderful idea that is supported by your love, pain and talent, please go head strong into making it the most honest you can. This is such an opportunity to give voice to sooo many people who have and are facing cancer. I love that you can grow from this experience too! Much love and prayers to you, Bryce.

Hi Kim, I got behind this week and did do the Friday Finds but came on to see what everyone has been up to and also see what is happening with you. The video project looks so great. Lovely seeing you and your other friends.

Of course John is always in my thoughts for sure. much love going your way. Take care.

Kim I know that you are so proud of your son with his video, and this is an awesome start on it! Such a positive way to help maintain a good attitude, and also help others at the same time. I can't even imagine how hard it has been for you being away from home from such a long time. I live in a big metroplex area where everything would be done locally... hard enough to deal with cancer, never mind being so far away from home. Glad that john is through with the transplant, and that you are on the way to improvement. I imagine 80 days seems like a long time, but hope the time will pass rapidly, and that he will grow stronger every day. So grateful that you have a nurturing place to stay during this time, and know that the friendships you have made with be lasting. Blessings to you from texas. Will keep you in my prayers.

Everything is so perfect about this post Kim- Rumi, Ekhart- two of my most favorite wisdom teachers. Bryce's film teaser- so poignant and human- can't wait to see the whole film! And you, Kim- so authentic and open and strong! Both you and Bryce have taken this difficult time in life to make something beautiful- so awe-inspiring! I am praying for smooth sailing for John (and you all) in these next 80 days. <3
