My Friday Finds

Hello lovelies... How are you?

Oh my....

so...I mentioned last week that John isn't allowed to garden this summer..... which means.... our gardens are taking on a life of their own!

Today Ben and I took a little tour around....after the rain.... As you can see he was quite curious...... So cute.....

Thank goodness for perennials....Otherwise our gardens would be nothing more than dirt and weeds..... Aside from the petunias my Mom and Dad planted up the front walk (thanks mom & dad!)

Carol Hart... you could make some magic around here... 'wink, wink'.....

We had a call from Winnipeg... One of John's appointments has been rescheduled... So we are on our way back into the city tomorrow morning first thing......

Gosh darn.... I was really counting on a full week.... But life doesn't always go as planned.... that's for sure.....

Here's a few photos of the flax....I've been cutting this for still life shoots.....It's part of the wildflower mix we planted at least 15 years ago.....(the only thing that grew actually)....

It's sorta... growing here, there and everywhere....

All images were taken with the Sigma 50mm 1.4 Art....It's a keeper!

Switching gears....

I've re-commited to juicing.... We were juicing daily before John ended up in the hospital a few month ago.

Anyhow, this past Monday I started a 21 day challenge.... I'm posting a juice/smoothie photo...everyday for 21 days.... a little accountability never hurt!

Hopefully I will have time to snap a pic....before we head out tomorrow morning.....

Wanna join the challenge? The more the merrier.... If you are on Instagram, please post your juice each day with the hashtag #21dayjuicechallenge

Here's me on IG.

Today's Smoothie recipe.

  • 1 c raspberries
  • 1 c blueberries
  • 8 oz of tazo zen green tea (mint and lemon infused)
  • 1/2 c spinach
  • 1/2 english cucumber
  • 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder
  • 1 T chia and 1 tray of ice cubes.

This makes about 3 large glasses… I drink 2, John drinks one...along with his granola and whatever else he can find.... He definitely has his appetite back!

This is not a juice fast... Simply a juice a day, plus healthy meals. I use the vitamix, which we love.... But I think any blender will work just fine.....

Thanks Kelly for the green tea inspiration....such a great way to add a little extra zip to my day.....

The Tazo - Zen green tea is fabulous.... love the touch of mint and lemon.....

I've been pinning juice recipes... if you are interested pop over here.

Tell me... do you juice? Have a favourite recipe?

Juicer? blender? Vitamix?

I'd love to hear from you!

Happy Friday...... Link away lovelies....

Love & Gratitude.... ♡

Hi Kim - such sweet photos of ben. I think you would like my post today....doggie in makeup! I don't juice but at my market today a lady was buying a huge batch of cilantro (they call it coriander here in asia) and I asked her what she was making and she told me juice. She washes it in vinegar then juices it with a bit of apple. She said it is an excellent antioxidants. Cilantro is a love/hate thing - I love it. Almost made me ready to start juicing!
Beautiful just beautiful. We are celebrating midsummer here in Finland, the longest day of the year (sun rose 3.23am and sun set is 23.15pm) it should be like this always :)
Have a great weekend!

Yes, thank you for hosting, Kim! So grateful to hear that John's appetite is returning and granola and a smoothie sound like wonderful starts to a healthy day! The recipe looks so delicious! I'll try it later this week. Your accountability via juice photos sounds like a marvelous idea. I've been slipping back into some of my unhealthy eating habits - so a fresh start for me today, too! Love all of today's pictures - the one of Ben sniffing the flowers is my favorite - always Ben! I'll be taking a little summer break from regular blog posting, but I'll still stop in to check on YOU as often as I can. Need some time away from the computer. XO,Donna

I love those of Ben so much, he is just the perfect dog for you and so cute in your photos. I have been doing protein shakes every day because I need them mid morning and they have helped me lose weight so I am happy about that. My daughters family is really into juicing and I have a juicer which I do not use. Sigh. I do get my vegetables only in the solid form.

I love your flax, your new lens and yes Carol could do some magic. I am going to go and spend the night with her next month and can't wait to see and spend some time with her in her lovely space. It will be a Zen moment for both of us.

I've never seen flax growing and in bloom before. So light and airy - beautiful! And I'm so glad John is getting his appetite back. That's a great sign of returning health and vitality!

I've been having a smoothie almost every day. I use a mix of fruits and veggies and a handful of nuts, with (usually) a scoop of plain yogurt and maybe a splash of milk. I've never thought of using tea for the liquid - I'll have to try that. I make mine in a Nutri-Bullet blender. Awful name, but it does the job.

Benny is so sweet as he stops to smell the "flowers"! Those flax images are stunning - I'm going to check out that lens. Hope everything goes well with the dr. appointment and that you have a lovely weekend.

Gosh, I love seeing Ben in your images. You can tell just from the photos that he LOVES being on his walks and savoring his time with you.
I've just begun drinking smoothies for breakfast. I use a blender but simple recipes such as 1/2 cup of strawberries, 1 banana, 1/4 cup spinach leaves, 1 scoop protein powder and about 1-1/2 - 2 cups (maybe not that much, just eyeball it for texture) of Unsweetened Almond Milk. Yummmm.
Looking forward to trying some of your juice recipes though. I do have a juicer!
Thanks for sharing! I'll be heading over to Pinterest!

Love the flowers, especially the one with the raindrops clinging to the flower! I don't drink of a lot of juices, but I will say this, you're pretty glass makes this look delicious!

I seem to favor photos of raindrops on blooms. Just something magical about them. Don't fret about the garden, it will continue to bloom. The weeds will love the lack of attention but they too will be gone once winter sets in. Not into juicing although I would like to be. I simply do not have the patience for all the chopping and cutting up that is required.
