My Friday Finds

Oh dear..... I had a Thursday post all planned....but sadly I ran out of Thursday....So here I am... a Friday Finds/Give Away combined.

My Thursday post plan will have to wait a day or 2..... which seems to be a recurring theme around here......

But I have good news.... today I am giving away a copy of The Kinfolk Table....
be still my heart.... It's really is lovely.... Just holding it in my hands brings me JOY. Perhaps you already have a copy... If so.... tell me, do you love it too?

I must admit I don't buy cookbooks for the recipes... for me it's all about the images...the layouts... the photographic inspiration...... I sure hope my Mom isn't reading this.... 'smile'....

My copy arrived a few weeks back... I finally took some time to flip through it .... The inspiration is truly so good.....

Today's Give Away Details....

Let's change things up a bit....For a chance to win a copy of The Kinfolk Table.....

in the comments below....please share what's been inspiring you these days.... .... feeling less than inspired?... share that too....this is a safe place to be true.... don't be shy.

I look forward to reading your words.....I will announce the winner back a few days......

I've never read Kinfolk but would love to see these inspiring photos you speak of! I am inspired by beauty, in nature, in the smiles of my grandchildren, in the glow of candlelight, the beauty of a handmade quilt, so many beautiful things in this world!

I've been inspired by the beautiful fall foliage around here. It was slow to come to Georgia, but definitely worth the wait!

I am inspired by all the different cultures I am so lucky to be exposed to living in Asia (Singapore)... the food, the culture, the colors, the dress, the religions. And I can truly say I am in love with my life - every detail : ) Thanks Kim!

I have been going back to school at 50. Actually, I never went to college so this is a first time for me. I am in a program for women who are trying to get back on their feet. At first I thought some of my other classmates were in much worse shape than I am. However, as time has gone by I have found myself so inspired by these women. They are coming out of very difficult situations and they are brave and beautiful. They have to struggle every single morning just to get it together enough to get to school -some have no transportation, some have very small children and a job, some have little food, some are facing eviction. Many have never had any kind of education at all and they struggle with a lot of the school work. But they do it!!! I am so blessed because I do not have to struggle with the things that they do. They are so amazing! And they inspire and remind me that I can do it as well!

Fall season around me.
I am inspired by a fallen leaf, a crack in the sidewalk, spray paint on a wall in NYC
truthfully the everyday inspires me!!

Right now, I am inspired (and uplifted) by autumn and its glorious colors...fall gives me such joy, and I try to soak it all in before winter comes! Thinking of you, Kim! <3

Always inspired by you Kim but also at the moment I am taking the Brene Brown e course and wow is she an inspiration. So I am inspired by beauty and nature at the moment it's making me see lots of things in a new light.

There is something magical about fall colors that inspires me want to get outdoors and find as many as I can. Every day a tree color will change and reflect in a different light, wet or dry. Fall is a natural gathering time, and I'm also inspired by others... this week I've spent lots of time viewing online photography work, letting my inner self gather in all the talent and ideas, storing for a later time to use.

Inspiration for my photographs these days comes from the most beautiful fall colors I have seen in ages. The coming of winter inspires me to get my studio in working order so I can enjoy my woodstove while I create!!

I'm inspired by my friends in Christ and my husband. Through my own illness and my mom's failed cancer treatment, they have loved and encouraged me right where I'm at.

Now that our weather has changed from hot to beautiful that always inspires me, time to get out and enjoy the beauty that surrounds me with a walk in the neighborhood, drive or just even going to the grocery.

Congrats to Patricia you are a lucky gal indeed.

Kim, continued thoughts of you and your hubby this week. Hugs

This beautiful website is a inspiration to me. Finding it has greatly changed my photography, the textures and tutorials opened my eyes to a new world, for that I thank you :)

I also find inspiration looking at all the wonderful photographs from those who link up every week. This week I decided to link up too! (a step out of my comfort zone)

I can answer that one quite quickly; flowers.
Oh, and autumn, and spring, and summer, and winter.
My DSLR, my iPhone camera, Photoshop, and Lightroom.
Blogging, reading blogs, other people’s work, and lately, Flickr.
Books, catalogues, magazines, and manuals.
Thank you, Kim, for hosting once again! Your images of "Kinfolk" are inspiring!

I don'[t have much time these day s- so I would say that looking at others images would be my inspiration right now

I am not feeling particularly inspired these days. I guess more precisely, I am feeling unmotivated. I have taken shots that I like recently, but I do not feel like pushing myself and even when I tell myself I should try something new, I don't do it. I blew off a class I signed up for and not entirely because I did not have time to do it but because I just did not want to. Oh well, none of that is the end of the world. A little boredom sometimes can lead to good things. I continue to keep your family in my thoughts, Kim.

I'm new to Kinfolk, looks wonderful! I think I need to watch some of their videos. What is inspiring me? The hope of getting our basement organized. I'm actually making a tad bit of progress and it feels great!
November 1, 2013 | Unregistered Commenterjill
These days it seems like everything inspires! From a scribble on a piece of paper to the setting sun. I need to check out this Kinfolk you always speak so highly of. Have a nice restful weekend.

I'm inspired by the small (often unnoticed) details of the natural world around us! There is beauty everywhere!

Kim .. Your words of wisdom are my Friday find for now and how true and how real to enjoy so many pleasures how big and or how small. Im with you in finding the time to post. It seems that I get to my blog and the words just wont come. I think today will be a day to look beyond anything that is important and let it all wait for at least a few hours. . Thanks for the wise word .. and the wisdom. You seem at so may time to touch my heart and soul though your work, art and words.

Now Kinfolk.. oh my I have looked at it here and on the web and I have not even gotten a copy which I just wish I had. That book would light up my life that is honest.

Im following your journey when I can with you and your husband.. Its seems that we here will begin our journey with my hubby seeing a neurosurgeon for his back at the UofA at the end of Nov... All the test indicate surgery It really is a place that I *don*t want to be . . but it looks like it might have to be done for a few different things... and its complex.

Im off to find something with my camera. Have a lovely day.

Hey Sweet know I have a copy of that lovely book...and yes, inspiring for sure...I never had made a recipe either but the photo' yummy as a scone with clotted cream...The magazines are great but this big beauty is a lovely coffee table book..
The other thing inspiring me these days is the great out doors..such a beautiful fall we have first love in photography has always been the out of doors..through your inspiration though I have come around to loving still life also...but only when the light is bad outside...
Last but not least, my most favorite subjects and my constant inspiration comes from my Boys...Liam is a love and Jaxson..has fought his way from adversity to "trouble"..they inspire me each day to just take every bit of joy out of this universe that I can.
Wishing you a beautiful weekend...with your Boys also..xoxo

Fall is such an awesome season, the colours, the light everything is so beautiful but still i'm not very inspired at the moment. No reason just struggling with taking photo's and working on them !!

I'm glad you do find some awesomeness in this difficult time, it shows such strength !!

I love magazins about gardening and nature because of the beautiful photo's so i think the Kinfolk Table would be a great addition to my collection :)

Best wishes for you Kim

People who suffer yet maintain a purity of spirit and reach out to others inspire me. You are one of those people, Kim. Blessings to you this day...

Before I tell my sad little tale of woe I want to give a HUGE and loving 'THANK YOU' to Kim! have been a shining example to me over the last two months. Fighting alongside your husband while still maintaining this site and making such beautiful images has given me the courage I lack. So when I say you have literally saved my life...I mean it from the very bottom of my heart. You are a treasure and never to be taken for granted!!!

It's been a long time coming but after almost 15 years away I'm shifting my focus back to photography. I've tried a lot of different means of expression over the years; even going so far as teaching on my own Ning website. Those workshops have been met with mostly happy praise...but lately I'm finding that a few people will never be content and every time they post something that even HINTS at unhappiness I cringe. I've put a lot of myself into that Ning site as well as a lot of money but the return isn't worth the price that's being paid. I didn't realize just how much I was 'paying' for being the "List Mom" until one of the students posted this on Tuesday: "I would really like my money for the classes back as the instructor is blogging but not helping out here." Since I check the site's email every 2 hours and pop over to the actual site at least 4-5 times a day that statement is totally without merit. True, I HAD missed a question she posted 5 hours earlier as I was blogging about Technique Tuesday but as an email subscriber to my artdemosdotcom wordpress blog she has to know that I've only posted 49 times in 13 months. She also has to know that my husband's stroke in April left him partially paralyzed with slurred speech and a 180 degree turnaround in personality. For 5 weeks I have been toying with the idea of shutting down the site and focusing more on my photography so they say... that post was 'the straw that broke the camel's back". It will be a long transition. I still have classes promised that must be produced, advertising that needs to be tapered off and over 900 members that will have to be shifted over to Vimeo so that they can continue to view the classes they have paid for. But now that I've made my decision I feel calmer and more in control. I will always love ART in all its forms but photography touches me in ways that no other means of expression can.

Just to clarify that I posted "Life inspires me. The ups and even the downs - they all make life unpredictable yet so full of possibilities," but for some reason when it was posted it came out as having been posted by NM Creatix. I don't know why. So I posted again. Thanks.

Spontaneous moments inspire me. Those I can't believe what I just saw moments. They are rare but when the occur the event will last all day. I watched as a gentle pair of animals licked eachother through a fence. A first meeting. One a dog the other a cow. :-D Those are the moments that fill you up with awe. Cindy

Hi Kim, Honestly lately I have been feeling a little (or even a lot) uninspired which I hate. I am taking steps to get back my creative habit though (those steps are my Friday find!). Thank you for your sweet comment on my blog. Please know that you, John and your family remain in my thoughts and prayers. Much love to you. x

I'm inspired by all the lovely autumn colors ...
And yesterday we went to 'Countryside', a fair about home inspiration,
gardening, cooking, handmade and homemade products
and much more ...
Nice weekend, Kim, thinking of you,

If the cover is any indication, it looks like a great book! I get inspired this time of year by the change of season. I've got a sudden itch to use my sewing machine, LOL, and make something creative and beautiful.
November 2, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterDonna M.
I'm the same as you.... if a book speaks to me it gets bought.... mostly for its photos - I'm a sucker for any kind of beauty (inner even more than outer....) - I also totally fell in love with the cookery book of a few days ago - so much that I've put it on my 'to buy when I've got money' list (an internal list with myself but not to be forgotten.....) - and the lovely, lovely looking KINFOLK Table goes right there too!!!!
So much generosity in such difficult times - you ARE an amazing person, dear Kim - tomorrow Sunday we'll have a special church service for the 'departed' and although it doesn't concern you or your family directly, it gives me a special 'kick' to pray for all our ailing, suffering and ill friends near and far - and there are many....
Thank You for being who you are and for your always beautiful and rewarding posts - it can't be easy but all your contributions are always highly appreciated.

I am inspired to clear away the old in preparation for the new and unknown. I am a pink slipped teacher with little chance of recall. So I made the difficult decision this week to take all my classroom stuff out of storage in preparation for a HUGE garage sale this week. Letting go of it all means letting go of an identity that I've had for years. Letting go means opening up for something new.
November 2, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterDiane
To be honest I find it a bit hard sometimes to love every detail of life... but who am I to complain or whine, considering what you are going through, Kim! You truly are an inspiration!
Big warm hugs and all the best to you and John and your familiy!

I am inspired by the strong women around me whose stories could easily lead to despair. Your story, my friend whose foster children of THREE YEARS (their whole lives) are about to be torn away from them, several of my friends who are themselves cancer survivors---all of these inspire me to be faithful and grateful every day.
November 2, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterStephanie
Inspiration comes when I am deep in God's word. It seems to help me notice the wonder of his creation more intimately.

Hi Kim-
I'm inspired by the little things that you might miss going through your day so fast. I look at everything different lately and try to think outside the box-love to you. Xo

I have recently been inspired by the change of season. With Autumn come such wonderful colors... the falling leaves... the temperature change... the days become shorter and shorter... and of course the anticipation of Thanksgiving here in the US. Life... it is forever changing!!!
As always I am inspired by you and this place to share our thoughts... thank you!!
November 3, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterMary
Hi Kim, Oooh…inspiration. I've been on a real roller coaster lately. One day feeling really frustrated and uninspired…like all this isn't working. But then the next day catching a moment with my daughter laughing or this morning taking 5 mins to photograph some autumn leaves. And then, with that, suddenly, everything feels better. Such a journey this is! x

The way the light plays off of the fallen leaves laying beneath the trees...even despite the rain, there is still a golden glow around the ground.

So many things inspire me! But usually it is people being good and kind to one another. People forgiving, people loving, encouraging, prodding each other on....
