Hi Kim Great new about John all fingers now crossed for the move back... I wasn't going to have a word this year but the word just popped in my head and it just stayed there ! It's explore. This Mark Twain quote is wonderful.

' Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.'

Have a great weekend. xxxx

good morning Kim...as I read your post today I had to smile...my post is about my finding my word for the year...embrace. It took me weeks to find the word that spoke to me. I wish John and you well today...you are both always in my prayers. Can you even imagine the joy you will feel when you get to your lovely home and Ben once again? I pray that day is soon...
January 10, 2014 | Unregistered Commenternancyjean
Praying for that green light home! Your photo is gorgeous and grabbed me since I chose joy as my word for 2014. Problem is I'm really struggling to "feel" joy but looking for opportunities to be thankful. Have a wonderful week!
January 10, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterSarah
I continue to pray for you and John. Home will feel oh so good. But, I've bet you've found a new spiritual home with our Lord and Blessed Mother while you've been on this journey.
January 10, 2014 | Unregistered Commenterjill
Praying you get to go home soon. The best healing happens with the comfort of home.

Woo Hoo 100 days! Glad for some joy amidst the pain. Soon, soon… Hang on….
My word is Rediscover, and there is a link back to that post on my blog today. Quite the revelation.
Another give away, oh fun, I would sure love a test kitchen membership.

Thinking of you and John and praying for you both. My word is "Mindfulness." Mindful of how my words and actions affect others... Mindful of how I live my life... Mindful of all the beauty around me...

Hoping all the best for you and your family in 2014.

I'm so hoping that you get home soon, Kim! Prayers for John's continued improvement!
January 10, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterBarb
Continued prayers for you and your family. This journey has lasted long enough.
My word for 2014 is "explore." My life is good, but to a certain degree I stick to the same path. It is safe. Recently I read a Mark Twain quote that inspired me.
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
I turned 70 this week and there will be some changes made. I plan to live a little "outside the box."
January 10, 2014 | Unregistered Commenterpatricia
Prayers to you all. Hope the journey will soon be at an end and you can go home. My word for the year is "Gratitude". I saw a quote the said gratitude creates joy, that is my aim to bring more joy into my life.
January 10, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterPat Mark
GRACE is my word for this year. First time I have chosen a word, but I definitely need to demonstrate grace to those in my life. I am sadly lacking in this area.
May God demonstrate His grace to you this year Kim!

My Friday Finds this week is more about leaving 2013 behind and facing forward to find what 2014 has to offer.
I hope 2014 will be a good year for you, and your family, Kim and that John will find his way back to health and you will find your way back to your home and all those people and things that you have been missing.

Don't have a word chosen but am committed to a picture every day. I hope things improve for you and John and that you can return to your own home.
January 10, 2014 | Unregistered CommentercandyK
Praying for a good outcome! May John be home soon! My word for 2014 is deepening – my spirituality, my art, and being more in touch with my rhythms and nature's rhythms.

Sending all good thoughts that you will soon be on your way home . . . my word for 2014 is "beautiful," meaningful to me in all kinds of ways -- hoping to bring beauty into my life on many levels.
January 10, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterEliseW
I've been following your blog for a year or so and I have to say, I'm amazed by your strength. Not just in your day to day journey but creatively, keeping your art going through it all. Thanks so much for sharing your talent and your strength with all of us.
January 10, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterCarmen
You are such a sweet inspiration. Keeping you both in my prayers.
My word--Renew: relationships, time, creativity, journey, me.
Sending you lots of love.
January 10, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterLiz V
Hi Kim, Thanks for the thought provoking task... I would have to say my word for the year needs to be "notice"... notice the beauty, kindness, funnies, etc., in each day. I am striving to put a quick note in a box each day of something good that happened. I am finding that I am failing to notice the many of good things that happen in a day. (or maybe it is my short-term memory leaving me!!) So maybe it is Notice and Remember but that would be 2 words!! Thanks for the opportunity to win a free class, thanks for all of the textures, and know that I think of you and your hubby in my prayers. Hugs, and Smiles :)
January 10, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterBarb
Kim,
Thank you for all you share. Your work is part of what is inspiring me to pursue what I hope to accomplish in 2014. My word for this year is 'passion'. I want to pursue everything that comes this year with passion and encourage others to join with me.

Didn't pick a word for this year. I always seem to forget about it in a couple months...kinda like those new year's resolutions that I gave up making, too. Hope your news is good news!! Praying for you and your man.

Thanks for the chance to win.
January 10, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterTammy
Prayers that the appointment goes well and you are all soon home.

My word for 2014 is COMPLETE. It means several things to me. I hope to COMPLETE many unfinished projects. I also hope to be COMPLETELY in each moment instead of living in the past.
January 10, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterlynnW
My 2014 word is "blessed". The word just stops me in my tracks. It reminds me of my connection to God. All at once, I realize that despite whatever challenge I am facing at the moment, I am really blessed in all areas of my life.
January 10, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterLisa W.
Goodness...I haven't picked a 'word' yet. I suppose life will go on without a 'word.' But, I do respect those who use that particular tool to guide them through a new year.

Sending positive and warm thoughts to you and your husband.
January 10, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterSue
My word(s): Share the Passion!

Prayers for you and your family.
January 10, 2014 | Unregistered Commenterwendy
Prayers and thanks. I hope 2014 truly does bring you joy.
January 10, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterCarolyn
My word for 2014 is Breathe.... looks it bit funny all by itself. But, for me it is a reminder to slow down, take in, ponder, create, and bring glory to God.
January 10, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterJenn
Thank you, Kim, for your inspiration and your art. I hope you and your DH can come home very, very soon. ((hugs)) to you and the best of wishes for the new year!
January 10, 2014 | Unregistered Commenterftm
My word for this year is Peace. It must have been the Lord's prompt, for I just found out this week that my Mom's assisted living facility wanted her to go on to hospice care. Although she feels great, her weight is down to 84 pounds and she has no strength to move herself about. I am overwhelmed with all that hospice can do for her. Peace is definitely needed as I go through this unexpected journey so early in the new year.
January 10, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterSherre Hulbert
Hoping for good news for you and John at next assessment... We have just gone thru a year of surgeries/chemo/radiation/more surgeries... all is well at the moment but taking nothing for granted anymore...

FOCUS, was 2013's word but 2013 was a 'lost' year with all going on, so my word for 2014 is
(drum roll here) RE-FOCUS
January 10, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterLynda
Congratulations on 100 days post transplant - it is a huge achievement for John and your family in all respects - medical, physical, emotional...

My word for 2014 is COURAGE.

I am striving to take a deep breath and let go of the old and familiar, to have the courage to make changes, to envision the future in a new way, to step out of the box, and finally to have the courage to keep the faith that despite difficult times, things will be better. I want to have the courage to keep up hope.

I hope the 100 day assessment has gone well.

Kim- I hope there is good news today with day 100 and that John can come home. Keeping you all in my thoughts that the new year begins here for your family with great news :)

My inspiration and OLW for 2014 is Life... to live love & laugh as life is too short not to. After the last year and what I have gone through I have decided this is my word for 2014:

LIFE

[L]ive, Love Laugh & Learn
[I]nfluence (those around me)
[F]ocus (on things I want to do- also take better photos)
[E]ducate (share my knowledge with others)

Big hugs to you Kim!!

My word is "embrace" . To embrace every new experience that happens this year, and also to embrace my family every chance I get !

I'm hoping and hoping that you will be able to go home very soon , sending big hugs,

Holding you and John (and family) tightly in my thoughts and sending positive energy your way!
I have always had 'lifetime words' ~ Here & Now ~ (for almost 40 years now) Since this has become a trend I try to choose an annual word (or phrase) that works within that...
I did a last minute switch very early into the new year...(I have always, when having difficulty making a choice between two things, just choose one and the right choice will become immediately evident - either because you chose the 'right' one and feel good or the 'wrong' one and wish you'd chosen the other...in which case it is not too late to change it! *lol*) So change it I did on January 4th - I chose a phrase, rather than a word, and that phrase is "Catalyze Joy"...have almost finished my 14 in 2014 based on my phrase and it includes volunteering and spreading joy all over the place!
I am looking forward to doing just that in 2014

It sounds like John is getting better, I want to hear that you are going home. I posted a word a couple of weeks ago when you asked, "Opportunities." But I've changed it since then, it never felt quite right. My word for 2014 is "See", and I know it's right. Funny how that works. My most recent post on my blog is about why I changed.

Still sending prayers for both of you. My word ... smile
January 10, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterSueze
My word for 2014 is LIGHT. When I feel negativity, anger, worry, resentment, hurt, pain, etc., I will remember my word, LIGHT. I'm hoping focus on the LIGHT (and love) in my heart (instead of the darkness I sometimes feel surrounding me), and I hope I can pass that light along to those I love! Life is difficult at times, and we all have hardships that can dominate one's demeanor and chances for real happiness. Thank you, Kim, for the 'light' you provide! You are an inspiration!
