My Friday Finds

Where do I begin? So much to share.....

First.... Thank you so much for all the sweet birthday wishes.... It's difficult to express my gratitude... I'm truly overwhelmed.

A special thanks to Bryce for the video message... and sweet words.... I had no clue..... ... it made me cry... over and over..... I can't believe he hijacked my blog.... Gob-smacked!!

It was quite a day.....

It began with a beautiful morning visit with my friend Prairie Girl. The afternoon with John... then home for a surprise birthday supper at my parent's. Thank you Mom and Dad. The boys were there.... along with PG and her hubby..... It was all so sweet.... I wish John was with us... But I'm pretty sure, it wouldn't have happened....if John was home... Ya know? 'smile'.... The boys really stepped up.... So touching....

a 'be still my  heart'.... birthday card from Brett....

Brett surprised me with 6 long stem white roses.... and such a sweet card ...OH my...... the words that opened the gates.... 'I love you more than anyone in the world....' More tears.... My goodness..... it was all too much.

I took a few photos this morning... There's something about a single rose....Don't you think? And, just one rose.....

Is it wrong that I can't wait til they fade? Hmmm...'smile'.....

spray roses from safeway...I bought them because they were a little wabi-sabi already......

So many finds... so little time....

I've been bursting to share..... what just might be.....the most beautiful book I've ever laid eyes on...... Honestly.... just holding it in my hands is enough... But it gets better... page after page... full to the brim with beauty..... the photos... the text... the design....the pages.... EVERYTHING..... Oh my gosh.... I wish I could send a copy to every single one of you.

The book is written by Zoe Ellison & Alex Legendre of i Gigi General Store.

This calls for a give away.....

Give Away Details

I'd love to send a copy to one lucky commenter....... this book is bursting with beauty....

To enter for a chance to win a copy of A Life Less Ordinary, leave a comment below. I will announce the winner in just a few days.....

Before I go..... just one more find photo....

PG had these beautiful peonies just inside her studio door.... I fell instantly in LOVE.... Seriously.... I mean .... Oh my..... Anyhow, I just had to share one photo.....  that leaf, the sway, the textures... 'gasp'....

The Latest on John

John has been in the hospital (just 30 minutes from home) since Monday.

He has an intestinal infection. It's been a really difficult week.... The antibiotics haven't been working... They switched to a stronger one today..... we are praying he will have some relief soon.

I just have to say.... here... to the world........ how much I love him... how unbelievably strong (in every way) he has been.... Not once has his faith wavered..... Today as he lay there in pain, I held his hand.... and you know what he did? He began to tickle mine.... It's our thing....something he's always done... I thought... really ?? YOU are tickling my hand... when you feel so terrible... how blessed am I?...

I am so grateful for him... he has to get better soon.....

I know I don't have to ask.... but I will.... Please continue to pray for him.......

Okay friends..... I best sign off..... Until next time...

Happy Friday...... thank you for sharing your lovely Finds......

Love & Gratitude.... ♡

Of course I'd love to win that beautiful book, but it seems petty to even say so, because what I want to say is of course I will keep praying for John.

Oh my, what a week. I'm so sorry to hear that John is back in hospital. Hoping that they will finally be able to find a way to help him start feeling better.
But what moments of joy, too - time with friends and family - and beautiful flowers! Gorgeous images - I love the single white roses. And spring is definitely here - I saw the first flowers in the English Garden at Assiniboine Park today - tiny little grape hyacinths and some lovely little purple flowers (not sure what they are). Finally!!

Take care.

Beautiful B&W's. Your son really touched my heart with his birthday video for you. Praying that the new meds will relief Johns pain. You are leading a life less ordinary at the moment, but I'm glad that through all the tears there are moments to cherish for eternity.

Hugs from Holland.

Kim thinking of you on your journey together with your strong, loving friends and family. Such wonderful images, I love the way you are leaning towards the Wabi Sabi look. That book looks wonderful I'm off to Amazon to check it out. Hugs x

Beautiful photos. I agree: there's something much more poetic and reflective about a single rose. Belated Happy Birthday. Wishing you strength to deal with what life has thrown at you, and a speedy recovery to your lovely husband so that he can come home and be with you all again. All the best, Bonny

Mixed blessings. So sad that John continues to struggle with the consequence of cancer treatment. Such a grace-filled birthday with your boys and your family. Such a beautiful book. Such wisdom from the photo - girl who loves the decaying rose. You continue to give and share when it would be so easy to shut down, give up, pack up, and hide. My blessing that you share with me here. I will continue my prayers for John and look forward to the day, just down the road, when you write that his is feeling well.

You brought tears to my eyes when you said John tickled your hand!! That's l.o.v.e.!! I'm so sorry he's in the hospital, but so happy that it's nearby and life isn't in complete upheaval. Keep finding the good in every day, Kim. It's always there. It's little things...a beautiful book, a wabi-sabi flower (which I also love), a lick from Ben. Whatever it is, recognize it and be grateful for it. I continue to pray for you and John and your family. Here's to blessed days...

Oh Kim, your words brought tears to my eyes, joyous because you had a happy day with family and friends on your birthday, but sad ones because John was unable to be with you. My prayers join those of others, for John's swift recovery to full health. Your images, as ever, inspire me and let me briefly escape the ties of my life.
May 2, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterMandy
Of course I want to be considered for the giveaway but thinking about John and YOU is more on my mind...sending him healing white light...the journey he has been on this past year has been soul wrenching but what a man to keep faith!! Here's to hoping he'll be home and 'right as rain' by Mother's Day. So glad to hear that your birthday was bright and beautiful. Bryce obviously knew how to 'step up' which says a lot about your husband and the example he has set for his sons. Hugs and Hope for Healing...C

Kim, your gorgeous photos are always an inspiration to me and I thank you for Your birthday sounded like exactly what you needed at this time and I'm happy you had a great day. I feel so bad for John and you're didn't need to ask, but I'm sure there's LOTS of us that are continuing to pray for him. It's his turn to feel good, be happy......and well!!

Oh, my! Talk about a roller coaster week! We're all pulling for John, he's gonna do it. And that video that Bryce did ... oh, my! I'd have been gobsmacked, too! Your sons are good guys. Truly. {But then they had two good role models!}

Well, Kim, it sounds like your birthday was such a special one, except for John not being there! As always, you and your family are in my prayers! Beautiful peonies, my mom's are just budding out. I can't wait to photograph them, in full bloom and withered!

I am so happy that you had such a wonderful birthday...and that you received tons of messages of love...and though John could not be there, there was that tickle! and yes...would love to have such a book!
Kim, I'm glad your birthday was special, because that's what you are to all of us. The way you open your heart can't help but touch everyone who knows you, whether we've ever met you in "real life" or not. I'm glad you've been blessed with such a loving family, and my thoughts and prayers will continue for John and all of you.

I'm so glad that you had a lovely birthday, surrounded by love. I keep your husband in my prayers, of course. My husband's health is precarious these days. His pancreatic cancer metasticized in March, so he is battling cancer and chemo-from-hell effects these days. My life revolves around him and tending to his comfort. So I know. Truly know.
May 2, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterDonna M.
Oh my, what a blessed woman you are, the message from your son was priceless and the roses and card another blessing. So sorry that John is not feeling well again, I know he would give anything to have been with you on your birthday. Keep the Faith Kim, you are loved and this will all be a memory.

Happy Belated Birthday!!! I'm sorry I missed it, but as you know, life happens. Having said that, I'm sending prayers and positive vibes for John! The poor guy has been through enough already...time for him to feel truly well again!

Big hugs to you, for your birthday and for some extra strength and support as you continue this journey with John.

Kim, just want to say that while I am not much of a communicator, I have followed your journey since I first "met up" with you on your website over 2 years ago. Your work and classes have inspired me. Even though my style is very different from yours, I love what you do and learn something from every lesson that I can apply to my work.

I have checked in regularly to see how you were doing and how John was doing. So glad you have the loving support of your family and continue to have you in my thoughts.

Wishing you all the best.

Hi Kim, Wonderful to hear you were looked after on your birthday. Aren't children the best at knowing just what we need! Wishing you all healing thoughts.
Looking forward to starting yet another class with you soon, I feel I have learned so much from you, and I know That will continue. Your photos are breathtaking. Today my favourites are ... so pure and simple and the crumpled peonies. Hope the sun is shining where you are today. Rain here today but at least it is still rain and not snow! A good day to look at books!
Cheers Christine

You know my prayers are coming your way. I hope all of these people sending their love, support and prayers are lifting you both. This book looks wonderful. I like that we can celebrate the way we live our lives, ordinary or not. I love peonies. They are hard to find in the desert but I look every year around this time hoping for a vase full. You captured them beautifully. Even fading away, they are elegant. Love to you and John.
