Inside-Outside, 2 New Textures & a Few Updates

Hello,

How are you? Happy Easter my friends.

I picked up the sweetest pink tulips the other day at the grocery. I haven't had the best luck with tulips lately.... but these are keepers.... really perky.... they seem to have a lovely helter scelter way about them.

This is a triptych of my world inside.... hopeful...spring like...and light filled....

I went for a walk with Ben... the sun was shining bright yesterday......snow was melting...it really was a treat. So I decided to take my camera on our evening walk... the light the previous few evenings along the river had been amazing..... But gosh darn it...the sun took a hike....and here's what we found.

Quite the contrast.... from up top..... don't you think? :)

Ben's okay with it though... The deer our thick... coming out to find food... he never catches up to them (wonder what he'd do if he did)... But he loves chasing after them.....

Here he is...looking out on 'his world'.

So tell me... what's your world looking like these days? I know we aren't the only ones waiting for green grass. :)

On another note.... I put together the BEST of my 2012 textures...ones I shared here at the Café, in Beyond Layers and a few of my other classes.... 90 textures in all.

If you are interested in filling your texture stash...check it out .... TK members get them free... along with lots of other textures and tutorials...

Also, my crash class, Texturize starts soon.... a Test Kitchen member exclusive.... details HERE.

And last, but not least.... Picture Pro-cess starts on Tuesday. There's still time to dive in.... 2 separate classes...one for Elements 11 and one for CS6.

Oh and if you are an earlier version elements or cs users.... The Essentials eCourse is now self-paced, on sale.... and access is available for one full year.

Finally... how 'bout a few textures to play with?

Click HERE to download the 3003 set.

Let's end with a give away.... Shall we? 2 offerings.

One - 8 week spot in Picture Pro-cess.

One - 4 month membership at the Test Kitchen.

To enter.... share your favourite  thing about spring....  it's always good to celebrate our blessings.

For me... Spring is a miracle..... It amazes me...the green grass, trees coming to life... tulips, daffodils....always such a gift after our winters.

I will announce the winners here on Tuesday.

I'm off for now.... John's in the kitchen making gluten-free pumpkin pancakes..... I can smell the spice up here...

Have a wonderful weekend....

xo,

Oh I don't think I choose a favorite thing about Spring... I love everything about it. The flowers are absolutely wonderful, I could take pictures of them all day!

My favorite thing about spring is the color! Everything just pops, and if you are even in a mood all you need to do is go outside and go for a walk and the fresh blossoms of spring will cheer you up. I don't know.. I think there is something magically when the world suddenly becomes vibrant again.

Oh my favorite thing about spring would have to be the riot of colors- the flowers, the grass turning green.

My favorite thing about spring is finally being able to open the windows long enough to let out the winter air and to let in the fresh air and to have sunlight at 7:30 p.m. in Michigan!

The Sun. That's the first sign and what takes me out of my winter depression. I am now 100% convinced I have SAD.
I love to watch mother natures buds start to pop and show that subtle bit of color; the spring birds starting to sing, and wake me in the morning (aargh!)
It's like waking up in a new world. Everything is different.
Mostly in how I FEEL, which is worth any crazy weather we have in March here in northern Indiana.
Getting out with my camera and taking 'more of the same' pictures I took last year and the year before ... and now that I've been introduced to textures (aka Kim) I can make my images have any look I want outside of a straight shot of 'what it really looks like' here in the material world.

I would love to win a spot in any of your classes Kim. Thank you for all your heart felt inspiration.

Ahhh Spring! The light! Longer days and daylight savings time! And of course the flowers!

When the first Robin is sighted I know Spring has arrived and I will be able to get out and go for walks and enjoy the wonderful outdoors after being cooped up all winter.

There are so many wonderful things about spring...where do I start. I love to see all the birds return, the cedar waxwings, the honking of the geese and the formations flying overhead. The first robin; my irises poking their blades through the ground yet still surrounded by snow! the first warm day, like today, when the sun shines and the day is warm enough to throw open all the windows!
But the best is yet to come when the tulips and other bulbs bloom, and the trees flower! Can't wait for that!

The fragrance of orange blossom on the orange trees, totally uplifting!

My favorite thing about spring is the longer days after Daylight Savings Time kicks in. The day the time changes might be my favorite day of the year!

Spring here in Arizona is marked by all the volunteer flowers that make such beautiful color displays that people stop in their busy schedules to just sit and admire...

Spring means that we get to see things that have been in hiding all winter.
It is lovely to see the buds on the trees become leaves and the bulbs creep out of the ground and become flowers.

I love the feeling of awakening, plants, people, animals...everything seems to be awakened in spring...it's lovely and awesome and oh so necessary after the long and sometimes bleak, winter months.

Putting away the socks and sensible shoes for wearing all my favorite sandals - which means painting my toe nails too.

Sunshine at last, cherry blossoms, the first hint of colour in the garden, return of the birds, longer days, and life renewed.

Happy Easter to you and your family, Kim! Thanks so much for the wonderful textures!
To me spring is also a miracle - I find it so amazing that - finally - when the snow is melting away, snow bells and crocuses are already waiting there for us :-)

When we first moved into our home -- my son was about 10 yo -- we started a contest to see who could guess the date when we could first sit in our living room and not see the house across the trees because the trees were too thick with leaves. My son is now an adult, but I still observe the daily incremental changes in the trees. In recent years, I've photographed the leafing out of the trees. It is amazing how much change can happen in 24 hours. As for the date, whether it is an "early" or "late" spring, it always seems to be about April 21st. I haven't seen one wildflower yet (we had 9 inches of snow last Monday!) so it seems hard to believe that the trees will be covered in leaves in about three weeks, but I've been clicking away for a few days and will have a collage or video or some sort of documentation of the process before the end of April. I look forward to it, especially after this long grey winter.

Hi Kim,
For me Spring is ... different shades of green, flowers, fresh air, new beginnings ...
Yesterday we had some snow again and it's so cold, most of the time we stay inside ...
I'm longing for warm, sunny days now.
Thanks for the lovely textures !
Happy Easter,
Sylvia

spring to me is a transformation of color - from drab to beautiful - like the transformation of a moth in a cocoon to a vibrant butterfly

Spring is the miracle of those tiny shoots coming through the earth, how do such fragile things manage to push all that earth away so they can reach for the sun?

We are entering autumn downunder, not spring, so it will be some months in darkness before the light shines on us all again. Although autumn this year is lovely thus far :)
March 30, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterJeni
Spring is ...... new beginnings.......spring is like sheets drying on a line, blowing in a breeze and then sleeping on the fresh sent of spring.
Thank you for the beautiful textures :-)
March 30, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterLollo
Being able to sleep with the windows cracked so that I awaken to the song of birds -- absolutely LOVE that. Everything about spring is wonderful -- cleaning out the last of the garden beds, seeing the first shoots come through, the touch of soft air on skin, the soaking rains (It isn't raining rain to me, it's raining daffodils. With every dimple drop I see wild flowers on the hills. -- Don't remember the author but my mother used to quote it and now so do I.)

Thanks for the great textures!

One of my favourite things of Spring is listening to the birds. Seeing their return. Today we spotted the ospreys return.
Many thanks Kim for your new textures!! Would love to win a spot in one of your classes. All the best!!

For me Spring is the sense of renewal - a new and fresh start after a long winter. Rebirth.

I love the warmth, sitting in a car and feeling the sun shine on my face. Being able to put the car windows down and smell the "Smell" of spring....and there sense of renewal....hope....blessings....
March 30, 2013 | Unregistered Commenterwendy v
Spring form me means new beginnings. :)
But also chirping birds, lovely flowers. Longer days and evenings for more walking.
Catching up with friends and being more social - it's like coming out of hibernation! :D
Buona Pasqua! Happy Easter! :)

Spring green - it makes me giddy! It is gray here from November until almost May - green is the happiest color!!! :0)
March 30, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterJulie LaPoint
This year I am so looking forward to the color. We didn't have much snow this year, so it's been a season of brown and I'm sick of it!
March 30, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterLeslie
I Love the blooms everywhere. I have planted bulbs to bloom just when thre others are fading so i get color for a long time. I live in the Willamatte Valley of Oregon and the buds on the flowering trees are magnificent.
Thank you Kim Klassen for all you do!

Spring to me is when the daffodils bloom. Right now they're sprouting and they're getting bigger. Can't wait. Almost all of the snow is melted. Yay!

I love the FAT BUDS - the harbingers of green leaves and summer!!
March 30, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterDebbie Rodgers
Spring - it's all about the L's.............LIGHT (more sunlight, longer days), LOVE (the birds and bees are busy!!), LOVELY (color is emerging!), LIFE (new beginnings!), and this year??? LIGHTROOM (lol, because I am finally, thanks to you, learning how to use it!)! And I guess I can add an A........for AIR. Fresh, clean AIR!! :-)

My favorite spring happening is the return of the song birds to our feeders. Waking up to their lilting songs after a quiet winter encourages me to savor the early mornings.

Favorite thing about spring is the return of all the beautiful birds ;)

Here in the southern U.S., spring comes early and is first signaled by the buds swelling on the trees in February and then bam! bursts of color everywhere. It almost takes me by surprise every year. Right now, we have lots of flowering trees, tulips, forsythia and redbud. The Bradford pear trees are passing from full bloom to a greenish cast as the blossoms wither and the leaves take over. It's still a little cool, but very pleasant and we are all hoping this will last awhile before the sweltering heat arrives and seems to never end.

I love your site and your beautiful photos, Kim.

My friends the flowers--I miss them all winter and it is always comforting to know they will be back in the spring.

For me, living in the desert of So. California, spring means I can still take walks outside, enjoy all the flowers that are bountifull, even the cacti flowers in April, beautiful colors! Soon it will be too hot and I'll have to take my walks at the gym. Not as much fun.

Thank you very much Kim, Wish you Happy Easter

Spring for me is an awakening for the senses!
It's time for new growth, a time to let go the old , and welcoming the new.
Sitting outside on my patio, and just soaking in the new break of day.
I love spending time in my garden, listening to the joyous songs of the birds!
Ahhhhh what a beautiful moment ;-)

I grew up in New Hampshire, so, Spring was a very big deal after snowy and cold winters. My favorite thing was to walk in the woods and find the first sprigs of Trailing Arbutus. Even thought there were still snow patches on the ground they would bloom. Their smell is very much like orange blossoms. My next favorite is the smell of growing things in the air. Not really the scent of flowers, just the earth coming alive again.

Thanks for the giveaway. I'd love a spot in the Test Kitchen!

Spring means to me 'resurrection'. Everything, that semms to be dead in the winter month's, stands up and grow again. Every year it is a miracle to me.

My favorite thing, well in SOFL it's not too hot yet and still cool enought to enjoy being outside.
Tulips are my favorite flower. If you put a penny in their water they stand up straighter. Not sure why, but it works.
