iPhone / Phone Camera Tutorials & 2 Give Away Opportunities

Hello, how are you? I hope well.

Oh my goodness.... I've been under the weather this past week. In fact, it's all a bit of a blur. But, it feels good to find my way back. My oh my.... good health is such a gift....

Anyhow, sweet friends, I have some good stuff today....Let's dive right in.

I receive lots of emails, asking about iPhone photo editing... my favourite apps, how to use textures on the iPhone etc.... Today I'm going to focus on that. I have 2 iPhone/Phone screencasts for you.

First, just recently adobe released PS TOUCH for iPhones and androids. It originally released for the iPad/tablets. Anyhow, I LOVE it..... It has a lot of fabulous photoshop features.... seriously packed with all kinds of power and possiblities. Today's tutorial is texture specific...Just enough to get you texturizing on your phone.

As for accessing my textures from my phone....I store all of my textures in the Adobe Revel cloud, so I can access them from any of my devices...even my macbook.... The Revel lets you import as many photos as you want for the first 30 days. After that you can import up to 50 photos every month. It's a free service. Check out my video for a quick walk through. (thanks again today Wendy Woodby for the heads up on this... xo)

Dropbox is also another option. I don't know what I ever did without dropbox. I use it all the time between my iMac and Macbook....and on my phone and iPad... It's great for accessing files on the go....sharing files, photos etc.

Finally, The awesome folks at Totally Rad released a new app called Pic Tap Go..... It's so fun.... I put together a quick little demo below... LOVE...LOVE...LOVE...

As for a few of my other FAVOURITE iPhone Apps. Let's see. I love Phonto and Over for adding type to my images. (but PS Touch also lets you do this) I think I will always love the VSCO cam app.... and pre-PS Touch ... Snapseed was always my first stop.

Okie doke...before you check out the videos, how 'bout a give away?

I have 2...

1. a spot in my upcoming Photoshop/Elements class Picture Process. (8 weeks access to the Elements or CS6 class).

2. my latest Texture set, The Cloth & Paper Collection

To enter, share your favourite Phone app below.... not into phone photography?... that's okay...... How 'bout a favourite font... We all love fonts.... Right?! :)

I will announce the winner here on Wednesday.

I think that covers it. I'm off to find something for dinner. :)

Here's to a fabulous week.... so much gratitude.

p.s This week's Texture Tuesday is anything goes....which means.. pop back and share your favourite photo..textured, untextured, iPhone.... share, share, share... xo

Lately I have been using auto stitch to do panoramas. Now I just need to figure out how I can print them cheaply or post online as is

Right now-the phone apps that I am messing around with most include "Cameras" which can replicate (as close as one can) older photo processes such as daguerreotypes and calotypes- and my favorite right now, dry plate- you also learn a little bit about the history of photography. Best of all it is FREE! great app-I also like Haiku which has some great effects and HDR FX which takes your photos in an HDR format. Great, great stuff.

Thank you for the tutorials Kim-this is such an exciting time to be taking pictures!

I have an old iPhone 3G - a dinosaur! I do love the Yummy Cam app on it. I would love to win a spot in your Picture Process course. Glad you are feeling better.
March 10, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterSharon
Ohhh I would love that Cloth and Paper collection!!!!!!!!!!!!! I use Snapseed all the time. I have a bunch of apps (including Instagram)- but always seem to go to Snapseed. I love their selective adjust (or whatever it's called). I've TRIED to get into instagram, but just seem to forget about it. I have PS Touch for the iPad and maybe will get more into it after I watch your videos. I did NOT know what Adobe Revel was- opens up a lot of possibilities!

I have been playing a lot with phototoaster lately, but I always run to snapseed for my initial edits. I've been really debating picking up PSTouch though ... So now I might have to break down and go for it. I have an android phone, so I send all my images to my ipad and edit on the larger screen. Thanks a million for the tip on adobe revel for my textures! I was wondering what to do about storing textures on my ipad. So glad you are feeling better!

I'm one of the few not into the iPhone photography....yet.
So, my favorite font? ANY type of old fashioned typewriter font - I'm a sucker for them all!
March 10, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterPatti G
One of my favourite fonts is Segoe Print. I like to use it for journalling - gives a sort of hand written look to a layout.

Fingers and toes crossed that I might win a spot in your class :)

I do not have a cell phone. I am retired and really do not need one. But I do like fonts. I found a wonderful font just yesterday. I was looking at this website:

The font name is Taiga and it is a Swash font. I really enjoy using the Swash fonts.

Thank you Kim, for all you do for your readers. I enjoy your blog so very much. I look forward to all of your new textures. The Cloth & Paper collection is beautiful.

My favorite font is the oldie but goodie, Mistral. It's a fancy-scmancy almost formal yet modern handwriting script. And I like BeFunky for an app and in life. Enjoy your day.
