Lightroom Love & Mystery Give Away Revealed

Lightroom Video Tutorial & 2 More Give Away Chances

Hello Lovelies..... How are you? I hope this note finds you well......

I'm a day late with this post...Oops. Sorry... but things aren't quite back to 'normal' around here... We're definitely getting closer though.

I'm excited to pop in and share some Lightroom Love in a little video.... announce the mystery give away item...and of course the winner.....

First a little Lightroom video....  just a snippet on why I LOVE lightroom....

Lightroom is completely non-destructive, it allows you to edit your photo til your hearts content....none of the changes are permanent, you can always get back to your original photo..... Lightroom allows you to apply develop settings to one image or 200 images all at once. Oh and the catalogue feature has changed my life. I can now access my photos, quickly and easily... No more clicking on folders to find a particular photo. So good! Okay I could go on an on...

Oh one more thing...  this lovely little mosaic took me about 3 minutes tops to make in Lightroom.... this feature alone would be enough for me to own Lightroom.... but oh my gosh... it's just a morsel of all Lightroom has to offer.

Here's my first Lightroom video.... Check it out.

View on Vimeo.

Now onto the mystery give away (s)..... I'm super excited about this.....

Maureen of Cottage 960 makes the loveliest one word pendants for her etsy shop..... She has so sweetly offered a give away to my readers.... in fact she's offered 2. Today I will be announcing the winner of the first..... And there will be a second chance to win by sharing a comment below today's post. Keep reading.

Today's winner will recieve a Custom initial and one word pendant with 24" antique finish ball chain.

The BEST part....These sweet pendants will be custom made just for you........ your choose of a meaningful word, vintage ledger paper or vintage sheet music for the background. Your initial is stamped on one side of the pendant with a vintage stamp set and last but not least Maureen types your special one word on the other side using her vintage remette typewriter. (so good)

The winner of the initial & one word pendant is Kathryn. Kathryn wrote:

Congrats sweet friend, please drop me a line and I will get you all hooked up!

Be sure to check out Maureen's shop HERE..... and pop over to her facebook page and give her a like.

My word for this year is sovereignty, which means making space for me and everyone else to have their boundaries and to not worry about what other people think (or even what I think) of what I'm doing, in terms of self-censorship. It's based off of Havi Brooks' posts about the word on her site. :)

Hi Kim,
I have lightroom but rarely use it. A chance to learn it hands on from you would be fabulous. I talked about by one word in another email to you earlier, thank you for giving me the link to the etsy site for the bracelet. As I said my word for the year is "Intention". Have a happy weekend. So sorry for your loss.
January 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterPat Mark
Those word pendants are just lovely. I would love to have one featuring my 2013 word, "discover." There's always something to discover every day, usually many things. I want to be open to new discoveries and learnings.
January 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterStill and All
Oh, these are lovely! My word for the year is Wonder -- this necklace would be a perfect reminder. Thanks for all you do for us, Kim! You are such an inspiration to me in art and in life!
January 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterSharon
Hi Kim! Thanks for offering the give-aways. Either would be a great win!
My one word....Confidence. This is one area where I am lacking so to wear it on a necklace would be my reminder to always have confidence in what I do.
Thanks're the best!

Hi Kim. I do choose a word for the year and my word for 2013 is Action.

Thanks so much for the opportunity of the giveaways.
January 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterKara M
I have many words that I consider "my" words...Try, faith, challenge, believe...This year, in particular, I am repeating these words to I work toward my goals. Would absolutely adore one of those pendants! To remind myself...Never underestimate the power of words!
January 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterJulie H
This is the first year for me to select a word and I'm looking forward to the journey. My word for this year is FAITH.
January 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterCarol
I would say my word this year is "motivation." I want to be motivated to get more done!

And one of my goals is to really learn Lightroom, and know it as well as Photoshop.

Thanks for the chance to win!
January 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterSabrina
Hi Kim I use Lightroom more than anything else, the one word that I always go back to is "IMPROVE." I don't care who you are or what you do you should always try to make yourself better and improve your trade. As a photographer I always try to improve my editing skills and how I take pictures.

January 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterMike
I need to rewatch the Lightroom course! So much information packed into that class. I absorbed so much the first go around, but really need to watch again from start to finish! It's amazing, but I just need to get better at it. It's still so foreign. Just when I got used to my Nikon D60 and Photoshop CS5, I upgraded to CS6, got Lightroom 4, and a Nikon D300s. I feel like a complete amateur again. I need to get motivated to perfect my abilities with my new tools!
My word for this year is Brave. I want to challenge myself and dare to do more cretive things. Kind Regards from Sweden
January 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterBo Davidsson
My word for the year is "leap". I'm leaving a company I've been with for 10 years to work for myself and to spend more time with my family. It's very exciting but very scary! It will be interesting to see in what other ways my word works in my life this year. Thanks for the chance to win!!
January 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterVicki I.
Kim, thanks so much for these wonderful opportunities. I'm excited about Lightroom. I've taken your advice and I've bought it so I can't wait to learn all about it. I'm about to take my Casey (12.5 yr old cream coloured Golden) for a walk, and then I'll settle in with a nice cuppa and watch your Lightroom video above.

Hope life is settling a bit for you...I know your walks with Ben always help...

Hey Kim, I just sent you a message through your contact info but I wanted to say a big thank you. I can't believe I won the first pendant giveaway. So happy.

You're amazing in all that you do, thank you for continuing to be such a great inspiration.

January 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterKathryn Dyche Dechairo
A great video, you may just have a Lightroom convert. For the first time I have chosen a word for the year which is Balance which I hope to be able to find between my home life and my creative life. Thank you for the chance to enter.
January 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterMaggi
Hi Kim,
my word for this year is "patience". With all the craziness the last year and a half I know it's just a matter of time before things turn around, if I can hang in there. Finding you and the cafe have been a great escape for me, thank you! I have Lr but haven't upgraded and haven't been on for soooo long... I'm not a techie that gets this stuff and decided to learn what I could on Ps first. I'm hearing really good things though and would love to learn how to combine the two programs. Thanks so much for the opportunity. Have a blessed weekend!!!
January 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterScott Allan
Hi Kim. Yes, I choose a word every year. Last year was two words: True North, which was about following my inner compass and holding fast to the things I value. It was a good way to navigate 2012.

This year's word is: Vision. In 2012, I struggled with my vision (my literal vision-the ability TO SEE) because I was having optic neuritis attacks. My immune system was attacking the optic nerve. I was diagnosed with MS five years ago, but after 4 episode with my vision between Feb. and July, I had additional testing which revealed I have Neuromyelitis Optica (NMO) a disease often mistaken for MS, but way more serious. One of the effects of NMO is that you can go blind.

Needless to say, I am grateful that my vision recovered, but it's certainly made me hyper aware of just how precious and fragile it is. As an artist and photographer, it would be devastating to lose my ability to see. (I've already lost all the feeling in my hands due to NMO attacking and damaging my spinal cord.)

Vision also refers to the ability to hold fast to an idea or concept, long before you can manifest it. I am looking forward to seeing how this word informs 2013.

My word for this year is "grow" - I turned 65 last year. I've fallen in love with photography and have been serious about my art for several years now. I want to grow even more. I see too many people who, as they get older, seem to shrink mentally. I don't want to be one of those people.
January 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterLarraine
I downloaded a trial copy of Lightroom, but now it's gone away - alas - would love to learn more about the catalogue feature. That alone might make it worth the monetary investment. Needing to simplify - which would make a great word for the year. However, my word this year is 'kindness'. I want to remind myself to be kind to everyone I meet as we never know what burdens they might be carrying. I'm also making an effort to do at least one kind thing every day no mater how small it may be. Would love either of your giveaways.
January 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterGloria Weller
Thanks for the video on Lightroom—it was interesting to note the similarities and differences to using Camera Raw in Bridge. Might have to check into this more!

My word this year is Margin...making time for renewal, clearing out clutter to make room for living, scheduling empty time to invite beauty and wonder, and moving beyond some margins that have been personal or business comfort zones.

I'm new to your site, and I already love the way it makes me feel. Thank you.
January 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterLinda Sattgast
My word for the year is JOY. I love the pendant! Thank you for a chance to win!
January 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterKatherine Wall

This is the first year I picked a word or more realistically it picked me (one of those lightbulb moments, lol) - FOCUS. I need for this to be in my life, since I tend to get distracted so easily and never seem to accomplish much of anything. Especially with my photography and other classes as well as my life in general. The necklace would be a great reminder. :) Now I need to go back watch your Lightroom video. I just recently upgraded to Lightroom 4 and Photoshop CS6 - lots of awesome sauce.
January 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterMelanie
This year my one little word is "acceptance". Mainly, accepting myself and being happy with who and what I am at this point in my life .

I recently purchased Lightroom but have yet to explore it's "magic".

My heart does a happy dance when I see a new blog post from you. Thanks for the inspiration, the learning oportunites, and for just being you!
January 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterKate
Congrats to Kathryn! Your video is wonderful - Thank you for sharing. Lr and Ps are fabulous ~ I have loved them since I made the decision to try them.
I have never chosen a word but I would say that my single most important word to myself would be "True" ~ staying true to myself is very important and what makes me most at peace with myself.
Have a wonderful weekend ~ Rebecca

January 12, 2013 | Unregistered Commenterglenda
Happy New Year Kim, and thank you for the Lighthouse tutorial and the wonderful textures you provide for free!!

I have 2 words: One that I am personally working on is "CONFIDENCE"! I self-doubt myself too much, personally and professionally.
The other word is one that has served me so well in the past 2 years with our son's illness and that is "FAITH". My Lord has repeatedly told me to trust him, and He has rewarded us beyond measure.
Hugs, Barb

Oh Kim, Kim, Kim...I so wish I could 'get' this Lightroom was given to me as a Christmas present...and ...I just can't start!!! I can't see what I can achieve that CS and Bridge can't give me....what on earth am I missing? Why can't I see??

Thank you for all you do...all of it is so much appreciated but I feel almost guilty that I can't get this Lightroom enthusiasm that you are overflowing with.

January 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterJudy
I have LR and I'm totally in love however I don't think I even use 10% of its capabilities. Your class is on my to do list this year. Which makes me think in the word for me this year: COMMITMENT. Thanks for the chance of winning.
January 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterAdrianaG
My word for 2013 is dedication,. A little reminder so I won't forget how important my passions are. :)
Thanks for this opportunity!

This year is the first time I've selected a word to focus on. My word is Faith. Looking forward to seeing where this journey takes me.
January 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterCarol
Explore, that is my word for the year. I wanted to keep encouraging myself to do seek and see! I have Lightroom, but it is not being used to it's potential, so I would love to win your e-course and explore the possibilities.....
January 12, 2013 | Unregistered Commenterjmeyersforeman
I feel lame, but I don't have a word for the year. What I need, like everyone else, is inspiration and TIME! Finding it hard to get it all done and still have time to enjoy this passion of mine. I would love the chance to learn Lightroom!! Sounds too good to pass up!
January 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterMichelle
these one word pendants are so beautiful! Mine would say "simplify" It`s the word I have chosen (or has it chosen me?) for 2013. Now I`m off to watch your video. I`m new to Lr and excited about what you have to share
January 12, 2013 | Unregistered Commenterelke1403
Oh I am afraid to jump into light room...I feel I still have so much to learn in PS!!

My word for the year is simplify. I just did a post about it on my blog:

The necklaces are so lovely - would LOVE to have one with my word for the year.

Thanks for all the fun giveaways Kim!!!

I use Lightroom a lot. It's an amazing tool!!!
My word for this year is "evolve"...
January 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterEwa "Mom Photographer"
My "forever" word is HEART. When I remember to live from my heart, I cannot go wrong. I like the idea of a word for the year- and love some of the words others have chosen. I will have to go to my heart about that! I am a Round Trip graduate. It is a wonderful course- just as great as Kim's Photoshop class. I recommend it to everyone- and I love Lightroom just as much as Kim does. It is magical! What I would love to win is the pendant- so cool!
January 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterMelinda
Wow, Kim - thanks for the informative video and the chance to win either a spot in your Round Trip class or the charming One Word necklace!

My word for this year is TRUST. I am in a place in my life where I never expected to be - single and independent - though it's a very rough and unsteady position. I may end up losing my home next month and though a friend has generously offered me a place to live with her family, my son and two grandchildren (who live with me) have nowhere else to go and he may end up losing his joint custody because of it. I am also unemployed and though I am signed up with a temp agency, have only worked 28 hours since mid-November. However, precarious as things appear I am TRUSTing that GOD is still in control of my life -our lives - and that He will see us through.

I received Lightroom 4 as a gift a few months ago, but have never used it - I very much wanted to take your Round Trip class, but couldn't afford both Beyond Beyond and Round Trip, so I'm hoping you will offer RT again some day.

Thanks again for the video and the chance to win one of these lovely prizes!

Hugs from Alaska -kimB

Great video! I have Lightroom got away from it for the same reasons you were first intimated...The Catalog! I SO need to get back into it! Thanks for the encouragement!! Sorry to hear of your loss. I would love to win the Lightroom class!

Love that pendent too! Many blessings to you!!!

Such fab giveaways, Kim! Thank you for the peeks and chance to win!
January 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterMarilyn
My word is "heart". I once read: "Man sees faces, sees skin, flags, membership lists, files. God Sees hearts." How true, we mostly only look at surfaces and miss what is most important. So how could that not be the most important word ever!!.
I love Lightroom, but desperately need your class to use it properly. Thank you for lovely textures and tidbits :-)
January 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterLollo
There are two words that I use a lot that seem to help me focus and bring calm . . . and they are . .. "just breathe" .. . . but I think to condense it down to one, the word that holds the same meaning is "now". , . just staying right in the moment no matter what I am doing . . . and not trying to not squander a moment of my life is so important. Someone once told me, "This ain't a dress rehearsal," and, indeed, it is not! So "now" is what's important. Can't change what happened yesterday, or five minutes ago and redo it. And don't know what the next hour or day or year will bring, so can't do a thing about it! NOW
January 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterBarbara
Yes! I love to pick a word for the year. I think it is a powerful practice to set our intentions. My word for 2013 is FORWARD. A reminder for me to keep taking one step at a time. Dust myself off if I have to. I'd love to learn Lightroom with you, Kim.
January 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterMeghan @ Life Refocused
Every year for the past 22 years I've chosen a word. This year my word is USEFUL and it would be very USEFUL to learn Lightroom 4--see what I did there? Tying it all together!
January 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterHappydog
Hi Kim,

I have been doing word of the year for the last 3 years...this year my word is 'PROGRESS' there is so much I would like to move ahead with..comfortably of course..but at any pace it will be a progressive year for me. I love your word 'open' i hope it brings you an adventurous 2013. You know you're talking me into buying lightroom..200 images all at once & no clicking folders...this is something I need to progress with!!

warm regards
