(Reflection of You) 5 Fact Friday & a Give Away

looking back

Hello lovelies,

It's friday again..... can you believe it? I lost a whole day this week... On Wednesday I woke up and repeatedly thought it was Tuesday.... and then it hit me...about half way through the day... Oh my gosh... It's Wednesday. I blame John and the boys.... John had Monday off...then the boys were both home sick Tuesday...and well...it just messed with my routine!!

'sigh'....

And so, here I am.... film-less again... Thinking it may need to be a once a month feature at this rate... especially with all the awesome stuff happening this fall..... I'm so excited about Round Trip, another session of Behind the Scenes....and there's a little something else to come over at ROY as well.... Not to mention Oasis... Oh my....

Anyhow, before I dive into my 5 facts.... How 'bout a give away?

A chance to win a space in Behind the Scenes..... woo hoo!! And you can double your chances by popping over to Xanthe's blog too!

To enter, simply leave a comment below .... sharing one sweet fact about YOU. :) The winner will be announced on Monday.....

To double your chances..... swing by and leave a comment over at Xanthe's place. Good luck!!

Wanna join the 5 Fact party? Pop over to ROY and link up your 5 Fact posting... The more the merrier!!

Here are my 5 facts.....

Fact #1: I love Ben....like a mother loves her child. I'm absolutely not kidding!! When Myriam was here visiting.... she said to me one day... You really do LOVE Ben....in a bit of surprised way....as in wowzer you love that dog! ..... :)

Fact #2: Ben is not allowed to sleep with us (John's rule...it's about the shedding...ugh), but he is allowed up on the bed after John gets up or if we are just having a nap....Anyhow, I purposely stay in bed after John get up...so Ben and I can cuddle for a few minutes. :)

Fact #3: Ben is such a good boy. John has trained him not to leave the yard. When he sees something interesting like a cat for example, he sits at the edge and watches...and watches...and watches.... :)

Fact #4: Ben and I walk 4 miles everyday and we bike 5. Some days when it's super busy we do 2 bike rides instead. Oh, he doesn't bike...he runs. :)

Fact #5: Ben loves sitting on the front porch.... So if I'm anywhere near the front door...he kinda tries to 'herd' me in that direction...like a border collie would... it's so sooo CUTE. Most days he wins and out we go...even if it's just for a little sit. Oh and if we are in the studio and I grab my camera he gets all kinds of wiggly.....cause he assumes we are heading out to take photos.....

There you have it... 5 Facts.... They are kinda sorta about me...  in fact...I'm thinking a therapist could have a hay day with these somewhat Ben-obsessed facts... lol....

Sophie, Ben's 'cousin'.... my brother's labradoodle...

Thanks for stopping by....as always... my heart is full to the brim with gratitude for all of you!

xo,

all of today's photos were taken with my iPhone 4s.

Oh how exciting- wow, I'd like to win that seat in Behind the Scenes!
OK- ONE fact: When I retired from teaching first grade 2 years ago, I bought a DSLR so that I could take decent photos of my first grandbaby- but I have found my creativity awakened at age 66- and am now OBSESSED with all things photography and photo-editing related! (and I now have TWO grandbabies to love - and photograph!).

Kim,
I love all the Ben facts. I feel the same way about my cat (who herds me everyday!). That is so sweet - how they love us too! My fact: each morning my other kitty Nippy races me to the kitchen, and jumps up on the counter while she waits for her strawberry. She rubs the one she wants with her head, I slice it up so it's nice and juicy, then she eats it. E V E R Y M O R N I N G....!

One fact: I have seven chickens, and I love them all dearly, but my favorite is Mr. Littlefield. He's a bit of a loner. He has a three-syllable crow while the other two roosters have four-syllables. And he has only one eye, which gives him a rather dashing look!

I love your classes and would be honored to be chosen. I have come to love Ben too. We have 3 minpins but Lizzie holds my heart. Sigh, I love that dog.

I have fallen in love with texture effects and have found your blog particularly helpful and inspirational. A big thank you.

I can't wait for BTS!
Fact: I had my 18th birthday in Portugal! I can't wait to get back to Europe with my camera.
Happy weekend!

Love your website and all the textures, etc.! Would love to win a spot in the class!! Thanks for the opportunity!
August 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterNancy Kendrick
Hey there, my fact is that I find it impossible to take one camera out with me - I've tried but whittling it down to two (one slr, one toy or rangefinder) is the best I can do. I credit my biceps to the heavy handbag i invariably have as a result!
August 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterRhian
Wow, love that last image of Ben and the adorable facts! My dog is 6 lbs and sleeps in bed with us. I'm a mother of 3 very spirited, energetic boys! Would LOVE to win a seat in this class! Thanks so much for the chance!
August 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterErika
I threw my back out this morning - that is one fact about myself I hope never to repeat!
August 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterPat
One fact?--I absolutely love photography but am not doing much with it right now--need a good, swift kick in the backside, I suppose. Would love to win the Behind the Scenes spot. Thank you for offering this gift.
August 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterDianne
kim, i feel your animal love! i think it's weird when people DON'T love their animals like we do!
we have 2 dogs (lhaso apso--Cleo and Bandit). this is the first time in my life i haven't had a cat, and i've never had dogs before these two. i love not cleaning the litter box (!) but getting up to walk the pups is kind of annoying...yet good for us! still trying to figure out how to have dogs even after 6 years with them! :o)
p.s. i'm alone this weekend so they will be sleeping on my bed with me!

Oh how I would love to win this. My fact: My first trip abroad was to Italy solo following my divorce. Scary? Yes, but oh did it whet my appetite for more. Can't wait to see more of our wonderful world and all of its hidden treasures! Love your site and all you share!
August 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterLynn
My first blog was a sketching/drawing blog. I started taking photographs because I wanted to improve in composition and that led to a love of "capturing sentimental moments" ... which led to my love of poetry. My children and pets are willing subjects and a few of my children are now passionate about poetry, one with photography, one is pursuing visual arts for a career.

So what is fun about all of that? :) I don't get paid for any of it... it is just something I find fun and LOVE to do (I can't walk by a scene without judging weather it has any photographic or poetic possibilities. AND sometimes, my kids see it first now, and we love to compare and "compete" a bit.

Please enroll me in the "Behind the Scenes" giveaway. Thank You!

I would love to win a seat. You have some beautiful photos.

A sweet fact about me... I have a huge interest in promoting plant based nutrition and complete love of photography. . OK, that's two facts.. The never ending process of learning is absorbing, fun and ongoing.
August 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterSusan B
I'm all signed up for Round Trip, and I'd love to win a spot here! One fact - I'm such a muddle of facts, it's hard to separate one from another. But - here's a fact about my dog Lemon - she only barks in secret - at me. My husband has never heard her bark - I had to video tape her barking just to prove it She barks if she wants to play, and I'm reading, or doing something else that isn't 100% focused on her desire to play!

I totally understand your feeling of love for Ben. I love dogs so very much. My vision after I pass is that all the dogs I have ever come into contact with, even in a small way (that would be hundreds of thousands I am sure), will be waiting for me, running toward me, tails wagging, smiling, happy faces - especially mine! I will be surrounded by happiness. Thanks for all your emails, textures, tutorials, and a chance to win a spot in your class. Happy Friday!
August 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterAngela
One fact about me: I work from home and am sorely in need of some outside stimulation. I would dearly love to take your class to help me exercise my creative side since I have become obsessed with textures after following your site.
August 17, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterangelak
How awesome it would be to win this workshop. Thanks for the possibility and opportunity.
August 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBeth Marx
My fact: My other creative love besides photography is writing poetry and one of my poems that was published was about my pet cow, Princess, who I loved dearly when I was a little girl. Now I like to combine poetry and photography to create a lasting keepsake or gift. Learning textures from you was a wonderful ingredient to this new combination for me.
August 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterTheresa
I have learned so much from you Kim and your wonderful classes!
ONE FACT: I am going to Paris in October and plan on filling many 8gb cards with new photos for a show in early 2013!!

Have a beautiful day!!

I too love all the Ben photos and am dog-obsessed... fact about me... I always get rescue dogs... they are the best! In fact, if my husband would let me, I'd have 10 dogs (or more). Would love to win the spot in behind the scenes... in fact, if I do, I promise to post dog photos using whatever I learn... LOL
August 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterLynda
I love the Ben facts! One fact about me is that I am the mom of a shelter dog, she is my faithful and loyal companion.
Thanks for the chance of winning a seat, what a great prize!
August 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterLori_Z
I totally identify with your love of Ben. I am equally crazy about my Westie Angus and his brother Charles who we rescued recently. Fact about me: I used to write speeches for a Canadian public figure, but no longer do so, and I'm so happy to leave that stress behind me...
August 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterSherry
Your love of Ben shines through so many of your posts. I'm a therapist btw - and I would just leave that one alone and enjoy the mutual love. :)
August 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBonzie
Kim, I love the shelves and brackets above your studio desk. Did you and your husband make them? Thank you for all your beautiful textures you share with us, and for inspiring us all. :) Blessings

dogs rock! course looks really interesting

I loved your facts about you and Ben. I have always had companion animals, but my job for the last few years keeps me away from home at least three days per week. I am sad that I don't have a pet to come home to, but its not fair to leave a best friend for that much time. So, I volunteer to pet sit for friends when I have time off and when I retire I plan on being a pet sitter. I would love to win a seat in Behind the Scenes!
August 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterCandace H.
Ben sounds like an awesome boy!
One Fact About Me: I am in love with my Annie. She is a rat terrier/healer mix - so she's basically a 30 lb rat terrier. I love to watch her tear around the perimeter of our back yard when I let her outside. She thinks it is her job to protect me from all squirrels, stray cats and bumble bees - and she takes that job very very VERY seriously. Just thinking about her while I was typing this made me smile.
Thank you for the give away opportunity. I would love to learn more from you.
Best,
Kirsten

You said John trained him (Fact 3) - I was picturing Ben on his own little bike : )
Oh I so hope I win! Thanks Kim...for everything !!!
August 17, 2012 | Unregistered Commentercathy @ ma vie trouve
Love your facts about Ben, I am also a dog owner/lover. Fact about me: I am an empty nester and am excited to be able to have the time for me to play. I have a booth selling antiques and repurposed items and often add some "creativity" to my booth. I love stitching, working with fabric and textiles, paper, etc. I really want to do more blogging but my lack of quality photos is very intimidating to me. Next purchase will be a Canon Rebel SLR camera....can't wait to play with that....a spot in your class would certainly speed up the purchase of that camera!
August 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterKay Phillips
I love that you love Ben. Fun Fact about me - I am highly allergic to most animals and that's okay because I really am not an animal person, however I love that other people love their pets. The fun part or other people think this is fun..... whenever there is a dog or cat they will always have to be by me. There can be 20 people sitting around the fire pitt and if there is a dog or cat they will by laying on my feet or trying to get in my lap and I have this look of "don't touch me" on my face.

Thank you for giving away a spot in the workshop, it would be great to win.

I absolutely LOVE shooting puppies and dogs. I have 2 German Shepherds and a black lab and I adore your posts about Ben. I have a blog and I HATE blogging. Maybe if I win this course I could love it instead.

Thanks for everything!

This is such a cute post. Love the processing. And love the dog! It would be so fun to win a seat in your class. I thought about taking it, but it just isn't in the budget right now with so many other things going on in my life.
One fact about me for Fact Friday. I love Chocolate! Mostly milk chocolate, but put any chocolate in front of me and I will be sure to have a taste! Happy Friday! :)

Oh, I would love to win a space in this class!

one sweet fact about me? I am a crier. I cry when I am happy and I cry when I am sad. I cry for joy and I cry for sorrow. My family laughs at me. This past weekend we were all together at Margie's cottage, kids, grandkids, brothers, sisters, cousins. I walked in the door and said, "OH I am going to cry a lot this weekend". I was right ... my biggest cry was when I had to say goodby to Harry, the sweet boy featured on our blog today! I will probably cry if I win! :-)

MY fact: I have a Lilly, she is an adorbale French Bulldog and wears Coach Collars... I love her dearly and smile everytime I think of her and love going home to see what bad things she has been up to, she is such a Bully. I have so many pictures of Lilly that I signed up for Roundtrip, love phooshop, not sure what to do with lightroom except catalog my Photos.
Thank you for all the wonderful textures and am enjoying the beyond series.

Fact: I learned the hard way that people who don't love dogs, are not the kind of people I want to be around! Period.
August 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterNancy Germer
We have 4 dogs and we love them all to bits, even when they've been bad :D They love to get baby carrots in the morning, and one of them, Roxie, actually barks to alert the others that it's time for carrots. I give each of them 5 carrots for breakfast. Yes, the things we do for our dogs.
