My Friday Finds

Hello sweet friends. How are you? Happy Friday.....

Todays' finds..... 3 things....

1. This beautiful clay pot from Winners.... Oh my gosh... the texture, the shape... the white-wash..... LOVE it..... love Winners (TJ Max in the U.S.)

2. The greens..... above....from Lady of the Lake... totally fake... totally fab!! .... Amazing how fake can be great these days.... Don't you find?

3. Last....You've seen it in many photos... my anthropologie linen tea towel.... It's a keeper for sure.... always picture perfect.....

I was happy with the fake greens.... but decided to play a little more...so I snipped some herbs from my garden.... (pretty much the only thing I'm growing this year.... sigh)..... mixed them with the fakes....and

Voila.....

A lovely week of finds.....

happy 'sigh'......

If Truth be Told

Last week as I was zipping about checking out your beautiful Friday Finds....I discovered this quote......

people need loving the most when they deserve it the least.

- Louise Hay

only moments before I hung up on a certain loved one..complete exasperation..... (I can't share the details)..... but lets just say.... talk about a message.. I needed.... right then and there....

Thank you Beth... so much.

Fast forward.... a week of ups & downs.... frustration... sadness... worry....

yet another message....crossed my path....more than once....

the gist....

Humans want/need...long-for......desire....unconditional love.....

This is...
LOVE without conditions....
the .....no-matter-what..... kind of love.....

I hear you God... I'm listening... I'm trying..... Please..... LOVE..... through me.....

Lessons....so vital on this journey of life....

Perhaps this message may help you .....in some way..... too.

As always.... I gotta be true.....

All of this....is a part of ME.
I prop shop, take pretty pictures, teach classes, love my family, walk Ben, practice stillness.... make green smoothies.....collect cups, love linens, buy too many books..... crave chocolate... drink diet coke....love my iPhone....and so on...
sprinkled amongst it all....
struggles... sad times... challenges..... fears....
ups, downs...and in betweens...

Life.

That's my .....big picture.....

How 'bout you?

::

Before I sign off.... I haven't updated on John for some time..... and so.... today... a quick note.

He's  a trooper....he's been through so much....and still....a long road ahead.........
He's had some setbacks from the Graft vs Host.... trying yet another drug.... so many drugs...... but he continues to stay strong.... facing each day head on..... His faith never waivers.... He amazes me..

::

Always love to hear from you dear friends.... thank you for being there...on the other side of my truth.... so grateful for this space.....

Love & Gratitude.... ♡

xo,

An Inspiring Shop Tour Revealed

Hey there, my friends.  How are you?
How was your weekend?
Mine was okay.  But you know how it goes...some weekends are better than others.
I'm not sure if it was the weather?  the overload of work?  or perhaps the sinus issue finding it's way back to me.

Or maybe it was the fact that I dropped my blackberry and stepped on it while on the trail yesterday?  ugh.
I felt a slight sense of panic, thinking about being without it.  I know, that's completely ridiculous.  But, hey I'm just being honest... Anyhow, John is once again, my hero.  He fixed Brett's old Blackberry up using a part from my destroyed one, and I am up and running again. :)  'happy sigh'...
Okay enough of that.  Let's talk 'shop'...  Shop as in the beautiful shop I visited a week ago.  It's called Lady of the Lake.  It 's full of amazing inspiration.  I wanted to share a few pics with you and then a couple of announcements.
And by the way, I was a little nervous about asking them if I could take  pics of the shop.  But I did it, and they didn't even hesitate.  :)  They said, 'absolutely, anything you like...'  So i say, GO FOR IT..  if you wanna do the same at a shop you love.
The bicycle above is outside the shop....along with this old piano...  I'd love an old piano on my front porch... that'd be pretty cool, don't ya think?
Check out the title of the book in this pic.  How perfect!!
And these dishes seemed to be a one only set.  I'm not sure if they are a vintage collection?  I meant to ask.  But I think they are so very pretty!
And another shot of the precious dresses I shared during recipe week. 'sigh' Love these dresses.

And I had to share this image with you.  Check out the framed print 'nothing is impossible with a willing heart'. It's my design.  It's really cool when you see your licensed art in a shop. You kind of want to tell people, 'hey that's my art'.... You know like a random shopper... haha... I didn't though.  But I had to tell you all. :)  I have the original hanging in our bedroom.  I love the quote.

I think this chair is loveliness.  So inviting!
And I love this vintage typewriter... LOVE!!

And this little corner would fit in pretty darn perfect in our old country home.  Love the warm, autumn feeling.

thanks so much for allowing me to share a little tour of Lady of the Lake.
.....
And I promised some good news.  I actually have a few exciting things to share.
I've been cooking up recipes.  Photoshop recipes that is.  I even used several on today's images.  And I'm creating an exciting Photoshop eCookbook.  I'm hoping to have it available very soon.  It's going to be in digital format with lots of extra goodies.  I guarantee it'll have your photoshop juices going all kinds of crazy!!  So stay tune...
Oh I have a new site in the works as well.  It's going to be so much easier to get around, find stuff, access info.  And PRETTIER too.  I can't wait!!
And finally it's time to share the winners of the inspiration-Staycation eBook.  Thanks to all of you who commented and took part.  I so appreciate it!
The 3 winners are:
Deb (clicks of my shutter)
Privet & Holly
Joyelle Brandt.
Please send me an email so I can get your eBook delivered.
Congrats Ladies!

5 days of Photoshop Recipes ~ Day 1 ~ adding drama

happiest monday sweet friends...
how was your weekend?
mine was really good...
we visited a lovely local shop (lady of the lake) and they let me go camera crazy....
i scored a mint condition mountain bike for 40 bucks at the bike shop next to above mentioned shop....
i had 2 awesome, but super hot walks on the trail....  can you say sweat? :)
i managed to get my main floor vacuumed, dusted and spruced up a little.
had a lovely family supper at my parents, that included baby potatoes and green beans from John's garden....
and ended the weekend with a drive around the country side looking for old barns and abandonment to photograph....

lots to be thankful for.....

how bout you?  i'd love to hear a highlight or 2 from your weekend.

so, i have much to share....  i can barely contain myself....
but i'm going to take a deep breath and begin with

5 days of recipe sharing!!

sound good?

let's get started.....

with today's image.... above...
be sure to mouse over to see the before.... the difference is quite dramatic.

day 1 ~ let's add some drama...

Recipe: steps are the same in Elements and Full Photoshop unless otherwise noted:

Layer 1:
Duplicated the base image.
Applied a gaussian blur filter at 67 pixels.  Changed the blending mode to soft light.
PHOTOSHOP: added a layer mask to the duplicate layer and used a black soft round brush set to around 45% to remove the blur from the focal part of the image.
ELEMENTS:  used the eraser tool to remove the blur on the main area to reveal the base image below.

Then switched the blending mode back to normal.
the result: a dreamy blur in the background... drawing your eye to the pretty table setting.

Layer 2:
Hue/Saturation Adjustment Layer.  Checked off the colorize option box in the hue/sat dialogue box.
Adjusted the Settings to: Hue: 230, Saturation: 25
Blending Mode: Soft Light 100%

Layer 3:
Added another Hue/Saturation Adjustment Layer: Dropped the saturation level to -78.  Blending mode normal at 68% opacity.

Layer 4:
Added a vignette by selecting a soft round brush and black as the foreground color.  Brush opacity about 55%.  and painted around the edge of the image.  Changed the blending mode to soft light.  Then went to filter>gaussian blur and set the blur to around 35pixels.

.....

that's it for today....
see you tomorrow with some 2 fors..... and perhaps a little surprise?
and the day 2 recipe.....
