{Texture Tuesday} Another Free & Easy eDition

We're back with another Texture Tuesday!

This week... we're talking 'free & easy'! Anything goes....

This week's TT challenge is as follows: 

• As always, your image must contain one layer of any of my textures. That's it!

....

Allow me to introduce to you, my sweet and completely precious teapot...

Isnt's she dreamy? She came with 2 sweet little matching mugs.... I adore the dimples.... and the wire handle....truly.. just dreamy.

I have the photoshop recipe to share.

• Layer 1 - Background Image
• Layer 2 - I converted the image to black and white, using RadLab..... (gotta love the radLab)
• Layer 3 - I added one layer of this week's 'UggLove' at soft light 28% opacity. Added a layer mask and removed the texture from the teapot.
• Layer 4 - Photo filter adjustment layer (sepia) at 100% opacity. 
• Layer 5 - Duplicate of Layer 4
• Layer 6 - Added the text 'tea is a cup of life' in black multiply 100%.
• Layer 7 - Added a layer of last week's bonus, 'Thursday'...Oh my gosh I love it! At soft light 100% opacity. Added a layer mask and removed the texture from the teapot.

If you read my Sunday post I mentioned a little tutorial. I'm afraid I ran out of time today/tonight... I had to take Brett to the Walk-In. He cut his hand at work.... anyhow, 4 stitches later...all is well... But it threw Mama's schedule for a loop! Ummm, when do they become independent? Or is that a myth? 

'smile'.....

I will post a tutorial later this week!! I promise! Stay Tune....

The story behind the Ugg Love texture name .... is.... pretty simple actually.

Nope I didn't use the soles to make the texture.

But I did buy a new pair of Uggs yesterday....and while I was making the UggLove texture, Bryce's girlfriend and I talked for at least 20 minutes about our love of Uggs. Bryce could not believe we could talk that long about a pair of 'Ugg' ly boots.

Tea Tag Tutorial and a Quick Texture Tip

I'm not sure I shared the link to my 'dorky' tea tag tutorial at the i-Studio.
I shared a quick video tutorial on how I make my custom tea tags..... So easy!!

Anyhow, I also wanted to say, I used the new 'thursday' texture on this image, applied a gaussian blur filter and changed the blend mode to soft light. It created a pretty fab warmth.....I think!

Forgive my duplicate photo from last week.
But I just had to experiment with a little texture on this sweet scene.

I have to say... I love the grungy effect the texture created.....

I used a new texture..... I call Thursday!

I gotta tell ya...it's a pretty magical texture... seems to create super interesting results.

I used it on hard light blend mode (45% opacity) ...but desaturated it to get the gritty/grungy look I was going for.

The Beauty of Silence

Happiest Sunday!

How are you?

OH my goodness....  the need for a digital break, hit me like a brick this weekend! I mean BOOM!!  

Wow.... I had no choice but to just walk away from the studio...  take deep breaths, soak up some silence....and under-stimulate my senses.

It's been awhile since my last digital break - the one that lead me to a temporary addiction to watching reruns of Mary Tyler Moore. :)  It was time for another.  

The difference this time was a lot of simple silence was involved....  Just time to sit and reflect and be alone with my thoughts.  It was REFRESHING.

I have to say, I adore the quiet.  I think best, create best, do best, when I surround myself in oodles of quiet.  I long for it, I need it!! I cherish it!

I love being with just me  I honestly do.  The more time I spend with myself (and Ben), the more I need. I'm a self-professed loner! I make no apologies for it! It's just who I am. I love the quiet of my own thoughts. 

Anyone with me on this? I can't be the only loner! 'sigh'

I honestly believe silence allows me to dig deeper into the artist inside me...the creativity flows freer... The thoughts and ideas come easier!

 

I know, not everyone feels this way. Many of us love lots of interaction, conversation, stimulation...

If that is you.... can I give you a little tiny nudge....consider test driving just a little 'silence' each day.  You may be surprised what it does for you! In exchange, I will do my best to fit in a little more social time (now and then)......

In honor of silence.... I created a lovely texture for you all... I call it Silence. :) Check it out!!

I used it on each of today's images. It's one of those textures that just seems to work... on pretty much anything it lands on.

A Matter of Focus

Happiest Saturday to you!

Today I wanted to share a little focus inspiration with you all.

I had a lot of fun with this shoot.

It started with the journals... i had them sitting on the chair. I walked by and they called to me! So I moved this sweet little treasured chair in front of our dining room window and decided to play.

I took several shots, focusing on the chair, rather than the journals.  

(I was standing on a chair looking down on the subject it was mid afternoon...nice light streaming in.)

Here's one of the first shots before the daisies entered the 'picture'.

Enter sweet daisies...focusing on the daisies....

 

and another - focusing on the top scallop of the chair.

Anyhow, I encourage you to play with focus and your point of view as well.
