Texture Tuesday - and a little Recipe Sharing

mouse over to see the before image.

Happiest Tuesday, sweet friends...

How are you?

I'm super pumped about the new Texture Tuesday feature, here at the Café.  I can't wait to see what you all have been up to.

I thought it'd be cool to share a little recipe with you all.

Here's a screen shot of the layers panel from today's photo.

Here's the steps I took to process the image. I used this week's freebie - warmsun.

  • Layer 1 - Image
  • Layer 2 - desaturated the image to soften the tones.
  • Layer 3 - Added warm sun texture at soft light blend mode 100%.  Added a layer mask and removed some of the texture form the vase.
  • Layer 4 - Curves Adjustment Layer to increase the contrast and darken the image.
  • Layer 5 - Used a soft round black brush at about 55% opacity and brushed over the vase where it was a little to 'bright'.  Changed the blend mode to soft light and added a gaussian blur filter to blend the brush strokes.
  • Layer 6 - Added my watermark.

And that's that. :)

Okie doke...  are you ready to share your favorite textured image?

This week, feel free to share any image you have processed using at least one of my textures. It'd be super cool if you noted which texture{s} you used in your post.  You can link to your flickr, facebook, or blog page. Or anywhere that you share your photos. Be sure to link to the permalink for that posting.

Please take a moment to check out the Texture Tuesdays' details HERE for more info.

Grab a button if you like.

Next week, let's add a little challenge....and share an image using this past Friday's texture 'warmsun'.  That give you have a week to come up with an image to link to next week. I think it'll be pretty cool to see all the different variations....  :)

Sound good? :)

Let's begin.... xxo,

Well, I Tweeted without intending to! Am really happy you've provided this new opportunity for us. I have so much to learn, but it's not all a foreign language since your skinny-mini course!

I love what you all are doing! I am struggling to teach myself how to use PhotoShop (CS3) more effectively and am finding a lot of inspiration from you all. I think it is a matter of using the program enough - practice, practice and more practice. I have already learned some good things from the Skinny Mini and am hoping to one day have something decent to share here on a Tuesday.

OH this is so fun Kim!! Thank you for working this up- it's wonderful.
Yes I'd love to see thumbnails too!
I just want to say I am overwhelmed by the beauty you are spreading all over the world Kim - there are some sensational photos I've been viewing.
Not everyone is including the name of the textures they used! It's so dissappointing to run into that! :(
I realize some are more professional, and maybe that's why? but still...that's not the idea of Texture Tuesday, I think.
Thank you to those who have posted theirs!! You make this fun!

I'm almost glad that I have a cold and that it's gray and rainy, so I can justify sitting at my computer all day and follow all the links to see what lovely images everyone has created!!!

I can't say it better than Karen did, a few comments back: "This is so exciting. Sharing my new found passion, thanks to you. You opened up a brand new world for me and my photography, and to share it weekly is wonderful."

xo, Elaine

Oh wow, isn't this just amazing, Kim!?!!
March 29, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterRosie Grey
I'm not sure if I did it correctly because there's a red X after my name, but clicking my name takes you directly to my Flickr photo, and the name of Kim's texture that I used is listed in that post. Did I do it correctly?
