Texture Tuesday - Free & Easy eDition

mouse over to see the original image

Dear friends,

Welcome to another Texture Tuesday. Thanks for stopping by....and sharing your beautiful textured art!

This weeks theme - free & easy

Simply share a favourite image processed with any of my textures....

Next weeks theme ....Tuesday, May 5th.

Cuppa.....

I Can just see all the cup thumbnails streaming in.

Happy sigh.......

another wabi-sabi themed print.....

Today's Image

Okay...should I mention this... or just move on.... Another faded rose....a tea rose this time.... Oh my gosh...I can't help myself.

'smiling here'.....

I'm so in love with faded roses that I went and bought an assortment of colors just to dry..... for future photos... a series has been born.... Must get my portfolio updated one of these days.....

::

A quick post.... we were scheduled for appointments in Winnipeg this week.... but John ended up in the ER Monday morning. He has a small intestine infection....Thankfully it's treatable with antibiotics... Poor guy has been through the ringer and back.... so many times....

Thank you for your continued love and prayers for John...and our family. We are truly grateful.....

Today's Uptop Recipe

Processed in LR.

First I did a quick auto tone. It was slightly underexposed (oops)....but thanks to the magic of LR....it's all good.....

After the auto-tone I boosted the clarity..... then I lowered the vibrance to tone down the yellow in my bench. Finally, I added a tone curve to lighten the overall photo just a little....

Then into photoshop....

In photoshop I added Waterfront 7.... (a recent go-to).... at overlay (rarely use this blend mode, but it worked well) at 53% opacity.

I added my favourtie 2 words ....... BE STILL.... and that ...as they say...is that.

One more... (same recipe minus the yellow bench).....

Start to Finish students, I will be sharing the complete start to finish video for today's TT images in class today.

::

Happy TT.... Sweet friends.....Link away....

with gratitude.....forever...always....

xo,

One more photo... from my IG stream. Ben and his labradoodle cousin Sophie 'hunting' squirrels on our walk.... Makes me smile....

Be Still - fifty-two registration is still open at the early bird price. Pop over here for details.

Kim -- I so enjoyed your beautiful rose images. I love the simplicity and artfulness you put into your photography. You have shown us all how your art has helped you through a very difficult time with John and your family. Let "Be Still" be the conduit that gets you through what you are still facing. You are a strong woman and we are all behind you.
April 29, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterDellen
Thank you for keeping us updated about John...I do pray he is holding up well - and not getting "down" but loving each day in the beauty you create for him...

I would love to win a spot in Be Still...something about even the title is drawing me. I have kept the introduction page up just to keep focusing me. Time with a new teen seems to limit my time to indulge in creativity, but maybe that is what "Be Still" might help me to do? (And right now, finances are a little tight...)

Lovely photos as always, the Be Still theme is so perfect for this time. Sending good thoughts to you and your husband.

For the past few weeks I have finding myself coming tour website and or Facebook to see what kind of beauty has Kim captured and is sharing today. You seem to be able to take something so simple and find the beauty in it. And in our busy chaotic days we must not forget to enjoy the beauty before us.
April 29, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterShanna
Just beautiful!

I've been immersed in a period of stillness that's inspired voracious reading with peaceful interludes of melodic harps speckling the background as life's cares reduced their fervent prods. It's a wonderful place to be and very tempting to remain within. As I read the latest report a quiet smile met my lips and I mused on the lessons we're each beholding through your journey. John's condition has enabled you to embody the very image you've created as you lovingly place one foot before the next one day at a time. And in the smallest way you're encouraging us each to do the same. As always, you're in my thoughts and prayers. xo
April 30, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterSarah
Be still and hear your soul.
You are such an inspiration, thank you.
April 30, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterAnne
I continue to keep you & your family in my thoughts. Your faded roses are very beautiful particularly picture three today.

I love this rose Picture, such an aesthetic art photo! <3. I'm so glad I purchased your eclasses and would be so happy to win the be still 52 course. :)

I love the dog photo too, they look so sweet. I do have also a Labrador looking like Ben. He is already 12 years old and I hope he will stay with us for a long time. :)

The be still class is going to be amazing. I would love the chance to join in on the fun of learning more about still life photography.
April 30, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterPat k
Kim, I'm already learning so much in S2F! I love your images for today, especially as I study them with a more knowing eye. I can see the layers of texture you've added with the linen background, the chair, the vase and the natural element of the rose. The subtle touches such as the colorful tape and the Polaroid image in the blurred background make this image tell a story rather than a simple reflection of the scene. Beautiful!
April 30, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterDonna
Kim, I am keeping your husband John, you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. You have all been through so much especially your husband. Hope the antibiotics work quick so he feels better soon :) Also I am loving seeing the soft rose still lifes each day... just beautiful ! And then of course the photos of Ben and now Sophie too... I love seeing your photos!

Thanks too for the opportunity! Have a great day!!

Hello Kim, I just saw in your email that you are giving away one opening for Be Still 52! I must admit that a course like this sort of intimidates me because I'm afraid of....ummm....not sure. But I'm sure that with your teaching and instruction, I could learn so much. And I certainly like the "be still" aspect. I can't afford the class but winning the giveaway would be lovely. :)
April 30, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterSarah
the quietness...the subtle tones...the simple words...be still...looking forward to it...
I can't express how grateful I am to have found your website and all the creative joy and inspiration you gathered and nurtured here. Such a wonderful place to be for all of us and you too:) Thank you again for sharing your skill, your videos are great for newbies like me:) Also, the reminders to be still, be simple and enjoy. Be good to yourself and best wishes and thoughts for you and your family!

Life can turn on a dime. There were so many unexpected turns throughout my life that some people would have broken long, long ago. One thing kept me strong--knowing that life would not always be like this. Whether good or bad, it could change in a moment. Learning to appreciate the good days and value who and what is there now was a gift of those trials. As for the bad days, these too shall pass. In the end, those trials gave me strength that I carry amidst the chaos because now I know what matters and who I am. Because of all this, I have found gratitude and peace. I also recognize it in your Be Still journey.
Thank you for being so open with us,
Susan K

This past winter has been a challenge for many of us with the cold keeping me indoors for most of the winter. Be Still My Heart reminds me to be thankful for all my blessings. I would love to take the class.

My prayers continue for you and John, your strength is a blessing.

I just threw out a few dried roses yesterday...with a bit of hesitation because I so wanted to photograph them first but just didn't have the time. Perhaps when this new bunch withers I will take advantage of the photo op.

I love "Be still" I need to learn that lesson a lot more in my life. Sending best wishes to you both.

The faded roses create such a saved moment in time.
April 30, 2014 | Unregistered Commenteranita
Such a lovely, soft image. Beautiful stillness.
And one can never really go wrong with faded roses!
April 30, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterKaren
Be still...alive in the moment, present with what is and with the potential, at the wonder of it's very creation. The space between the notes that holds the harmony; the beauty that is the matriix of time in form. See what your images do? They are the pitchers beside the well that prime the infinite creative wells we each draw from.
You are a gift. You and John's story is "our" story and we are ALL healing through it!

Thank you for sharing your crayons (and teaching us how to use them :-} ) May all that you bless, bless you right back! Blissings and Blessings Dawn

Am wishing that this winter weather we're having again would just be still and fade away so that the roses in my garden would grow and bloom so that I might have some inspiration again. Would love to learn more about still life photography and be prepared for all the lovely garden subjects that are now slumbering.
April 30, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterKarenAnn
I love how you appreciate each day with something of beauty. I would love a chance at studying still-life and how to be reflective. I need to slow down, smell the roses so to speak. I would be so appreciative of a chance at the class. Thank you.

Praying for John, and you. Living through a life threatening illness is not for the faint of heart is it..my daughter was deathly ill with crohnes disease for several years. She was hospitalized 26 times in a 24 month period, she was dying..enter by the grace of God a new doctor who stepped in and selflessly set out to get her the medication she needed and the turn around began. She is doing well now and we pray daily that medication will not cause side effects. I love all you work, I do not get to follow along often but love your generous heart in the beauty you share. Blessings on your life Kim. Oh, I found one of your paint books and have it tucked aside to look through and paint.
