Hello lovelies. Happy TT.

I have so much to tell you....yet it's impossible to put into words....right now.

The truth.... the past few months have been very difficult (and I'm not talking about the cancer).... A family journey.....It's been extra challenging for some time now.

I've had to work at..... not pulling into myself... My first reaction....when my heart is hurting......step back, put up a wall.......retreat.

Rather than giving up....I will continue showing up.....

But, I'm allowing myself to sit with the quiet...dream pretty pictures.... set up stills........praying for strength to keep believing.....everything is going to be okay.

One thing I know for sure... the Be Still practice is so very close to my heart!! My oh my.....

But enough on that sweet friends....It's time to share a little light....... after several dark and difficult days....a gift in the mail from my Insta-friend, Deborah.....what a blessing.

Here's a little video of the unwrapping.... Thank you again sweet friend.... sending you much love.

Today's Peony Recipe

In Camera

Taken with my Nikon d800 and the Sigma 50mm 1.4 ART lens.

Shot in Manual. Camera Settings: F/2.5, Shutter Speed 1/800, ISO 640

Cropped to 4 x 5. Next an auto-tone. Then a boost in clarity (+21). I reduced the saturation to -40 and boosted the vibrance to +12.

Next a tone curve for a bit of a hazy finish.....

Down to split toning: highlights to 68 and 8 and the shadows to 309 and 13. Balance - 0.

I always enable lens correction on import.... So that's applied right from the start.

Into Photoshop

I added a layer of Waterfront 7 at soft light 100% opacity. I applied a gaussian blur filter (set to 3.1) to soften the texture. Then I masked the texture off the peony and leaves at about 50%.

The final touch... words by John F Kennedy.

LR eCourse News - Round 1 is Full....

Round 2 Registration is Open.

A fragrant white peony was the last of my peonies to bloom this year; the plant had several blooms, unlike the one or two last year. These images are so beautiful! Hoping that the worries in your mind and heart will be resolved soon.

So sorry to hear you are struggling, Kim. I understand your need to pull in and away. I'm not alone in saying that I'm glad you continue to show up here and share - I look forward to unwrapping all of the gifts you send our way. I loved watching that sweet video...

What a wonderful gift! It looks great in your image. My peonies are finished blooming and I didn't take one picture of them. I guess there is always next year. I always believe the more gratitude you have, the more you will have to be grateful for.

Dear Kim,

Sending you a poem that I love to read when life hurts.

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won if he'd stuck it out.
Don't give up, though the pace seems slow -
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man;
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor's cup,
And he learned too late, when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out -
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are -
It may be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit -
It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit.

Take care,

PS. I Iove your life cream jug gift so much that I ordered one for myself ;) Maybe a great tip to visit Etsy, they have custom made mug.s, I chose to put the words Be Still on one of them.

I'm so sorry you are having a difficult time. You have been through so much. Have you tried meditating? I started it a few weeks ago and it seems to be making a difference.
beautiful gifts for a beautiful lady

Keeping you in my prayers. Love the video. :)

It has amazed me how you manage to create such beauty in the midst of all that has been happening these past couple of years. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other ... that's all we can do. And 'be still' as needed. {There - that's my prescription and it's free!} xo

I absolutely love your images...but that video...brought me to tears. The love and much beauty in this short clip. It is so special that you decided to share it with all of us here...and being in the midst of my own personal struggles/ was just so touching and heartwarming! Thank you for sharing. Many blessings to you sweet Kim.

Kim, just know that I have been thinking and praying for you! I know your pain is real, and how easy it is to guard your heart by stepping back and putting up that wall…I do that when I feel my heart is breaking. Don't let go of that thread of hope…miracles happen everyday to those who believe!

Dear Kim; me too - I hold you in my thoughts and prayers and even though I cannot seem to find that 'pause' in my days and even though my life is far too busy for my taste - I become very still when I read you....
And although I'm not writing to you always and often am off my computer for days (eyesight failing and mustn't stay too long at the unit) - when I come back to you and read you, it's always with love and compassion. And heartfelt thanks for all the lovely offerings you make.
Blessings and hugs!
