I'm so thrilled to see the lilacs...everywhere....... not to mention their heavenly scent... so Lovely.

I spent a few hours on the front porch styling different lilac scenes today... I took a ton of photos in a variety of settings...
For today... 2 of my favs.....

I'm kinda in love with the top one...... You know how every now and then 'the one' comes along.... Well... this was that.... for me.... I said a few woo-hoos.... as I found may way to it.... in Lightroom.

I love every bit of the process... imagining a scene, hunting for the perfect drops and props.... pulling them together... click, click, click.... moving, shifting.....both my body and subject.... next into LR... Often times... back for another round...click, click... click...... then back to LR... and so it goes...

All so wondrous...Happy sigh......

My uptop image recipe

Auto-toned in LR.  Boosted the clarity (+30). Then dropped the saturation to -24 and the vibrance to -11.

From there I applied a a matte/hazy finish using the tone curve.... next down to split-toning were I added a hint of pink (very slight) to the highlights and a touch of lavender to the shadows.

Into Photoshop

I added a layer of waterfront 1 at soft light 54% opacity and masked about 50% off the lilacs.

For my quote image I used pretty much the same LR recipe with a layer of Waterfront 4 (instead) at soft light 44% opacity.

Great photos!! I love them both. And guess what my TT photos are this week - yep, lilacs! One of my favourite scents, too.

Oh I love your lilacs, and I love that quote Kim!! My sister carried lilacs in her April wedding years ago.

Wonderful edit, but the original was wonderful as well, you just took it to another level which is always so good to see how an image can change. Thank you for stopping by my new blog Kim, I appreciate it, it is going to take me a while to understand everything there, as far as sizing of images, still working on that from what they are telling me in the workshop and what I am seeing on my computer. It is a real change but change is good Right! Keeps me young. Hope the taxes are going well.

This is so pretty. Our lilacs have been and gone and I pretty much missed them. I must plant some in my garden so they are right in front of me! Love your second image with the individual flowers. Hope you are doing well. (Oh, and I also wanted to say how much I am enjoying Be Still. :)

Thank you for the lilacs, Kim! We don't have them here in South Texas and, being from the north east originally, I miss them so this time of year! Your are lovely {sigh}. I can. . . almost smell them. So glad to see all the interest in your groups. You are such a talented teacher. Have a blessed week!

Oh Kim, lilacs are the one thing I miss so much about living in the midwest. I just don't see them here on the gulf coast. I recently visited my mom in Chicago and I couldn't get enough of that lovely scent!!

I can picture you lost on the process of photographing the lilacs, and that image is endearing. My favorite flowers are the old-fashioned and reliable ones - lilacs, peonies, roses. Your first image is divine - the edit that is so romantic and aged - and the story that says to me "abundance." Sometimes a single bloom is all that is needed and sometimes an entire bouquet is required. Thank you in advance for the free Lightroom class, I'll be watching for your email! I'm not playing Texture Tuesday today, but I'll visit my online friends and spread the love!

Kim, these are both stunning! I haven't been around the past few weeks. Things got a little crazy (again) in my life. I moved my mom in with me last weekend. I'm tired. Today I'm determined to be creative, so I'm hoping to have something. I need to jump into Be Still and get caught up. Some time for me. I need to re-find my center. I'm always searching to be centered. I love seeing your images pop up in my Instagram & Facebook pages. They always make me smile. xoxo
