My One Little Word

I started a 2014 one word list several weeks ago... typically.. writing things down helps.....

I've struggled......... One word for an entire year..... is BIG.

Last year... my word was OPEN. I remember writing....'I'm open to whatever life has to offer'......Hmmm.....not exactly what I imagined....

But, this past year has been much more than cancer. I've discovered a whole new world... beautiful people....places and spaces..... I grew closer to my husband...parents... family.....God.... I discovered an inner-strength I didn't know existed... so much to be thankful for....

It's been difficult.... at times almost impossible.... but through it all... there's been many gifts....I can honestly say.... no regrets.

And so.... today.... I read and reread your one word comments below Friday's posting.... I love reading your thoughts.... and ideas.... everything you share here.....Thank you.....

I pulled out my list yet again......... and my word finally appeared....It feels right....

I've choosen...

Definition of re•fine (rɪˈfaɪn)

1. to bring to a pure state; free or separate from impurities or other extraneous substances.
2. to purify from what is coarse or debasing; make elegant or cultured.
3. to bring to a finer state or form by purifying or polishing.
4. to make more fine, subtle, or precise.

5. to become pure.
6. to become more elegant or polished.
7. to make fine distinctions in thought or language.
8. refine on or upon, to improve by inserting finer distinctions, superior elements, etc.

Number 4 'to make more fine, subtle, or precise..... I think of my site, creative offerings, my photography, my art....LIFE.. and it sits well ....feels right........ I think of my writing.... a process of reflection, writing...then refining what pours out onto the page... powerful......Good stuff.

Definition number 3 'to bring to a finer state or form by purifying or polishing.'  or number 5 'to become pure.I think of John and myself.... all we can do together to aid in recovery, build strength, purify....let go.... especially once we are home sweet home....

I could ramble on and on.... but honestly... Refine simply FIT.... felt right..... It is the one.....

I had some powerful choices.... I won't let go....

PAUSE, TRUST......and TRANSFORM.....will sit by my desk... on the fridge.... by my bed..... along side REFINE.... gentle reminders as I move through this year.

Johns Latest

We had the assessment on Friday..... we didn't quite get the green light.... but it's close. The doctors want to see one more GOOD week.... He's scheduled to get his central line removed on Jan. 22nd..... If nothing changes we should be good to leave here around the 24th....Fingers crossed....

The eCourse Give Away winner is:

Lynne G

Lynne wrote: My word for this year is HOPE. I just found out I am pregnant this morning and hoping to not have another miscarriage.

Prayers for you Lynne... please drop me a note so we can get you set up for the eCourse of your choice.

Such a great word you've chosen Kim! Refine. So many ways to interpret and use it in life. I really LOVE your tablets and your fountain pen - always an elegant choice of writing instrument. Thank you for sharing Ali's link…lots of inspiration there. Hope your internet is recovered soon! xx

Fingers, toes, eyes, legs ... all crossed ... and prayers still going up, praying that you'll be 'released' on the 24th. Oh, I can't wait to hear! And ... I think 'refined' is the perfect word for you, I'm eager to see what you do with it. I'm sticking with a concept: simplicity. I seem to work better that way.

My Friend….there is no doubt that is the perfect word for you…although you have not used it before, it is what you have been doing each year since I found you…refining and fine-tuning…it's the name of your game…I just love it..Kudos to the 24th …fingers and toes crossed….and prayers…so many prayers…xoxo

Awesome word Kim! Beautiful, poetic, powerful ... you! My word ... Discover ... "find unexpectedly in the course of a search"; "become aware of"; "be the first to find or observe";"recognize the potential of " ... have been in an artistic rut for so long, am hoping Discover will claw my way out of it. My love to you and my hopes for John!!

Thank you so much for your kind words! I am so excited to win the e-course and cannot choose one! I am also very happy to report that I am very much on track with the results of my blood work for my pregnancy and it is looking very good! There has to be hope, what else is there when out of 10 pregnancies you have 1 son. Maybe I should have chosen Stubborn. ;)
Very happy to hear about John xo
