Texture Tuesday - Quiet eDition

mouse over to see the original image

Dear friends,

Welcome to another Texture Tuesday. Thanks for stopping by....and sharing your beautiful textured art!

This weeks theme - Quiet

Next Tuesdays theme ....Tuesday, April 1st

Free & Easy....

Today's Recipe - 'melancholy'

Edited in LR. I was going for a quiet.... moody feel....

First I did a quick basic tone, then I applied a new preset I call 'melancholy'.

This preset combines subtle desaturation......a nice boost of clarity.....a tone curve for the faded film effect......and finally a gentle lavender split tone in the shadows.....

Into photoshop....

Waterfront 18

I selected Waterfront 18...because the tones seemed to match my image....

2 layers..... one at soft light 52% and another at multiply 26%.

One more...

Textured with Waterfront 27......Soft Light 74% opacity.

Today's post is dedicated....

to moms (and dads) .......with a child ....  hurting....
from sadness, sickness, fear, addiction, disease..... pain....

today... tomorrow.....always.....

May we never give up.....

May we find HOPE ... in the smallest of gifts....holding tight to love....

one day at a time....

'Listen the gentle whispers of hope.....'

If you have a moment.. close your eyes.....send a prayer.....a loving thought...... for all the beautiful children you know and love.....

Happy TT friends.... Link away....

with gratitude.....

The Winner is.....

Thanks to each of you that commented on Friday's post

The winner of the Kinfolk magazine is..... Susan Bolton. Congrats Susan... Your copy is on its way.....

Kim, your post brought tears today. As the mom of a child with a chronic incurable disease, hope is what I cling to. I've been doing a bible study "Living beyond yourself; exploring the fruit of the spirit" and last week's lesson was on patience, which is inspired by hope. Thank you for the dedication is my prayer that all parents struggling with patience and endurance can hold on to and be inspired by hope. Kim xo

Such beauty to represent Quiet, I was so quiet this week I didn't get a TT done. :) Sending prayers, a Mom's work is never easy and never done. Love the preset.

Such a beautiful post. Definitely felt from your heart. The images are beautiful as always...though one day, you will have to share with us how it is that you get those overlapping images so that when you hover over the edited version, you see the original ;-) Sending many hugs and blessings your way...xoxo

That last shot of the tulip took my breath away. It's beyond lovely in its simplicity.

Beautiful Quiet pictures, Kim ... the dried roses are symbolic... the quiet whispers of not giving up the hope - being fragile, etheric and yet so beautiful and unique! Praying ...

Praying a prayer of love for parents and children who are hurting and a prayer of gratitude for every day that is ordinary and without pain. Your images reflect the deep emotions of sadness and hope that co-mingle to form the human experience. Thank you for reminding me to remember these families.

I was surprised to see so much warmth in the roses on the original.
Oh, the children. I have a great niece that's been through something no one should have to at such a young age. Not easy for everyone involved. Thanks.

you know Kim, when I just now received your mail and looked at the first picture with the dried roses I had a cold shiver running up my arms and I thought WHAT A SAD MELANCHOLIC PHOTO.... then I scrolled a bit down and I read the quote by CD Brodhead, then I scrolled some more and I read YOUR text and ----- the hairs on my arms are still standing up - this time in awe and appreciation!
Thank you for the love, talent and kindness you spread with your blog - although I hardly ever am ready with an upload I eagerly await each post and enjoy much the 'walk' through the rich garden of your friends' contributions. Such riches, so much love spread and hope given - I join with my prayers and thankfulness.
