{Texture Tuesday} The 'Do' eDition & a Give Away

mouse over to see the before

We're back with another Texture Tuesday!

This week... we're talking action! We're talking 'do'!

But, did you hear? I added a little and/or to the 'DO' theme...

I thought the whole Do challenge was a fabulous idea last week....and I had all kinds of possiblities in my head....then the craziest week ever went down....and my ideas went right on down the drain with the week....

So in order to save my butt... I added the and/or part....

Allow me to sum it up again....

This week's TT theme is as follows:

  • As always, your image must contain one layer of any of my textures.
  • Your image may contain one layer of Autumn Burst and/or center around the verb DO.

And because today was even crazier than the last week.... I had to dig an image from the archives.....

I added 2 layers of Autumn Burst at soft light 100% and one layer at multiply 22%. Then I added some wise words.... please note the word 'do'...

Anyhow, the very wise words in my image, are from a favorite manifesto!
I've admired this poster forever....  I think I shared it here before.......

Have you seen it? Please, take a moment and read the very powerful words!!

Isn't that good stuff?

I just placed an order for one tonight!! So excited!

Give Away Time...

I would love to have one shipped to a lucky TT'er.....

Sound good?

To enter you must DO 2 things.

  • please leave a comment below sharing something you absolutely LOVE TO DO!
  • and enter an image into this week's Texture Tuesday Link up! Be sure to follow our theme in order to qualify.

You can find this fabulous manifesto by Holstee HERE.

I will announce the give away winner this coming Sunday....when I post the weekend texture!

Spread the word thru twitter and facebook...pretty please...  That'd be totally fabulous!

Okie doke, before we get to linking up.... let's talk next week's TT theme.

Tuesday, September 20th TT Challenge Details are:

The Free & Easy eDition is back! That means.... your image must contain one layer of any of my textures... That's that... no other requirements.....

New to Texture Tuesdays? Here's the short and sweet TT rules.

  • please link directly to your post, not just to your blog or flickr stream.
  • please link back to the Café. You can grab the TT button HERE, if you wish.
  • please visit the other TT participants and leave them some comment love. Remember it's a party.... and what's a linky party without lots of comment love? Right!

Want more details? Click HERE for the full scoop!

Let's get this party started!!

Shall we?

p.s. We're looking for love at the i-Studio... come on over and say hi.... We'd love to see you!

I LOVE to use a camera! A year ago, it was rubber stamping and card-making, but that has been replaced by my 5 cameras and PhotoShop Elements with what seems like innumerable textures and actions. (Oh, and I love being retired!)

what i absolutely love to do is playing with inks, paints, sprays and glue... the messier the merrier!! it gives me a deep satisfaction to end up with dirty fingers... like children playing in mud, maybe?
September 13, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterjohanna
I love taking pictures, editing pictures, and learning more about both. I also love to read, play games, and spend time with friends. I just wish I had more time for all of that and less dishes and laundry!

We might prepare a second entry 'cos we adore your Autumn Burst texture. Thanks so much!

Ohmygosh yes! I love that poster. Love. Love. Love what it says.
As far as what I love to do? Take photos of some of my vintage treasures, and then get lost for hours playing with textures with them.
Thanks as always for the lovely textures to feed my creative juices.
And thanks for the linky each week.

That's an excellent quote - I'm going to have to keep it handy - and I love the way you photographed it. I also love Autumn Burst, my favorite so far! And I love working on a rainy day.

I love photography. Guess that goes without saying! I love learning new ways to express myself through photos. I also love that my daughter-in-law shares this with me.

Okay - I am going to say it.....I love participating in Texture Tuesday! It is true! Before I wandered into your site - I knew ZERO about PSE but wanted to learn, Now after two classes with you, and participating every week in TT, I think I am creating respectable images. Thank you Kim!

Oops - I clicked in the wrong place when I was loading my link - ended up with a blank thumbnail. I added a new link (correctly this time!), but I don't know how to delete the mistake (#21). Sorry. (Kim if you can remove it, that would be great!)

I LOVE to share my faith and the beauty of GOD's creation through my photos and digital artwork. Photography is as natural to me as breathing and I get an adrenaline rush at times when the perfect photo-opp captures my attention. I used to loathe the idea of tweaking my images, preferring to leave them in as natural a state as possible. But then I discovered digital editing using textures and brushes and fonts and my passion for photography took on a new dimension and gave me a new way to share my faith with others.

I am so thankful to those who have helped me discover this new passion - those online instructors (such as YOU, Kim) under whom I have learned the techniques I use in my art, and my fellow artists, who continue to inspire and encourage me!

What do I love to do? Oh my that is a hard one since there are so many things. I guess I have to say that really photography is my main love. I started over 10 yrs. ago and have loved traveling and taking so many photos. But what I have really fallen in love with and love to DO is work with the textures and the editing to make photos into something so wonderful. Thank you Kim, I can't say it enough, you are such an amazing person and so giving. I have learned so much since finding you.

I love to be creative: with words, colours, fabric, paper, photographs or other things that cross my path. Its not important what I do as long as I do it with passion and joy. I get inspired by many things, one of them ist your lovely website and the amazing work you do. Thanks for sharing your great gift with us.

I love love love photographing flowers and my precious grand daughter Elle. I love trying new art I have no training so everything is new and well sometimes not quite what I expected it to be oh well, I love that too. I love doing family, being a mother, wife and nanny I love that most of all I think. I love seeing my daughters growing into the most wonderful women and realising that I had a hand in that, simple as it seems, I love it.

This is my first time participating. Trying to learn about textures.

I love the poster. It speaks volumes!

I really love that poster! Such words of inspiration.

Some things I love to do: Take pictures, Design Work, but most of all I love to spend time with my kids and seeing them grow.

Your "DO" picture is beautiful, and i enjoy the mouseovers. One of the simple pleasures I love is catching up on my magazines on Saturday morning as i am sipping my coffee, it is fun and inspiring : )

I believe I have definitely found my passion with photography. I absolutely love to take pictures, and everything that goes along with it - like the photoshopping and blogging.
September 13, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterdeb
I love to do my photography. I carry a camera with me whenever I go out the door, you never know when you are going to see something you want to capture for a memory.
September 13, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterJill Odice
Thank you, Kim, for spreading the beauty and inspiration! Your autumn berry photo is absolutely beautiful and the poster... so powerful words! I love cooking, spending time with my family somewhere in the nature, and when I take photos.. well, I forget about everything that exists in this world. These are the things that I love to do..
September 13, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterNeringa

I do love to spend time with my horse and go horse riding. Thankfully after two and half year out of the the saddle, I have finally been able to ride again.

There are lots of things I love, being with my family, cooking, crafting, blogging but photography and playing with photoshop is what I really love. It is my go to stress reliever. When I stumbled across you and discovered textures I was hooked!
The words on the poster are beautiful.
September 13, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMiriam
omg :) what a delightful giveaway. things I love besides photography: spending time with my niece, my cats, to travel, a funny movie and many little things on the daily life. love this poster too :)
September 13, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterAna Eugenio ~ wonderland
I love taking pictures of course and editing them. I also love making books or other photo projects and I plan to start a project again here soon. I like having a project going : )

I like that poster. My favorite line is the bit about not watching TV . . . I do tend to tell people who complain (always) that they have no time to try to quit the tube . . . even if it is just on weeknights. I work full time in a 'regular' job, have 2 kids in school and other activities, keep the house (relatively) clean, cook dinner most nights in the week (go out sometimes) and I still have loads of extra time to focus on my hobbies. I honestly think that is because I do not watch TV during the weekdays and watch only about 2 hours on a Saturday night--really that simple; at least to me.
September 13, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterBonnie
I absolutely love to do nothing. :)
September 13, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMira
Sweet!! I love to do so many things but if I were to pick just one at this moment it is - photo shoots. Capturing another person's story is so. much. FUN. xo
September 13, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterbella
Lovely image Kim and thanks for the new autumny textures :)

There are soo many things I love!

My creative projects, the first hot chocolate of the day, saying good morning to nature and taking a few deep breaths of fresh air whilst standing on the step in my dressing gown! Also helping someone who's suffering to feel a little peace and comfort... grief, I sound like I'm going in for miss world :)))

I love the words on the poster and it always helps to be able to read the things we already know, to bring them back to the forefront of our minds. Thanks so much for sharing it.

Have a great day! Love Ruth xx

I love, well, sooooo many things! My first love is beading; creating beautifully intricate designs with tiny beads. Knitting and crocheting, drawing, painting, sewing . . . And now photography! I cannot say how grateful I am to have stumbled onto your site. I love your textured gifts, your Texture Tuesdays, and all that I have learned from you and from the images that other TTer’s post. Thanks!
September 13, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterSheila
First off, Thank you Kim for all that you do and for the great textures you share with us each week. I LOVE to see your creations and then I LOVE to play with them on my own photos... which I LOVE taking. I LOVE those eureka moments too when I look over at my husband and my heart swells anew with my love for him. I LOVE making someones day by complimenting them or givng them flowers. I LOVE hearing a childs laughter. Oh who am I kidding, I LOVE hearing laughter.. period! I LOVE a happy ending. I LOVE to sing. I LOVE listening to great music.

I accidentally commented on the wrong post. SORRY! Way too sleepy this morning....

I love that I found this meme and your blog. I love that you offer a few textures for free so a newbie like me can participate. I love that this encourages me to get out and DO some photography.

So many things I absolutely Love To Do, I have to draw one out of the hat. And the winner is...a tie: Arts and Crafts. The two longest running Love To Do's are Crochet and Photography. And I do love those so much I have a website for each one of them. The Crochet Love To Do is about Hats For Homeless. The Photography Love To Do is about showing what I have learned from you, Kim, and a very few others on the internet. Oh, yes, and I Do Love To Do the eating of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream! ;o)

Beautiful texture work and quote! I've seen that poster a few times, I love it! One thing I really enjoy doing is exploring through the lens of my camera and applying (learning) textures. One of my faves is your Cracker Jack with that pretty crackle texture. I've been on a texture kick ever since I downloaded it. :)

I LOVE what nature does with her skies! The moon, sunsets, storms, and clouds.
September 13, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterpeggy gatto
Oh Kim, I love your image so much! love the berries, they hint of fall but in a very happy and uplifting way... the texture is so amazing and the tones too!
As to what I love to do... oh my, so many different things, mostly very simple like going for a walk every morning, cooking, baking and then sharing the goods with my neighbors :), watching old movies with my husband, gardening, collecting millions of things, and of course playing with textures (this borders on obsession!).
Thanks again for hosting this great event every week, it's so much fun and so much inspiration for me :)

Hi Kim,
This has been such a fun adventure learning to use textures. I've always loved taking photo's but using the textures has really helped me THINK about the photo's I take. SO....I guess I could say that I absolutely LOVE using textures! Thanks for bringing this form of creativity to blogland!
