Texture Tuesday - The Free & Easy eDition

mouse over to see the before texture image

Hello my fabulous Texture Tuesday Friends!  How are you?

I hope well!

Are you ready for another Texture Tuesday Link Up, Blog-Hopping Party?

This week... we are free and easy... share your faved Textured Photo... any theme...any texture...  the skies the limit.

I took the photo above this past Sunday... a little Mother's Day Drive.... and my oh my did we find some fabulous sights...  more to share soon....

I used the latest Freebie - Trust, along with one of my new May Magic Textures....  And I have to say I love the transformation....

Happy 'sigh'

So... here's my recipe.....

Layer 1 - Background Image

Layer 2 - Trust at soft light 100%

Layer 3 - Hue/Sat Adjustment layer - slightly desaturated the image..... to tone down the yellows.

Layer 4 - Curves adjustment darkened the image and bumped up the blacks a little. I could have done the same thing with a levels adjustment.

Layer 5 - KK1 Texture from the May Magic Collection (see below) Screen Blend Mode 100%

Layer 6 - Duplicated Layer 5 and added a layer mask to remove a little here and there....

Layer 7 - Another Curves Adjustment - wanted to darken the overall image just a little more.

Layer 8 - Added a new blank layer - and used a soft round black paint brush at 60% opacity... brushed over the areas I wanted to darken (burn).... and changed the blend mode to soft light.  (a fabulous non-destructive burn technique).  This brought out the sky details.... and added overall image depth....

The End.

Okay, so I think you know I'm loving the May Magic Pack. I love what they do to an image... check out yesterday's post for more samples.

If you are Test Kitchen Member, the set is available as a Free Download. Be sure to grab 'em up and check out the latest tutorial I posted. If you are not a member of the Test Kitchen.... it's super easy to join... Click HERE to get the scoop.

Love the image Kim, I have a thing for trees.
Beautiful transformation on your photo as always Kim! I was wondering if you have ever posted a tutorial on how to add the mouse over option to a transformed photo. I would love to learn how to add that to my posts.

Kim, your sample is absolutely gorgeous. Those textures really capture the mood of your photo. I have been so enjoying texture tuesday. I love the new challenge for next week.

Happy blog hopping. I just cannot get over how much talent joins each week.

My friend Bev, from HowSweetthesound.typepad started hosting Pink Saturday several years ago, and continues to host is now.. She contacted Artful Blogging Magazine last year and she wrote an article about it. She was published in the summer issue along with many of our artwork submissions for the piece.

Your textures have inspired so many people, including me. Thank you.
