{Texture Tuesday} The Word eDition

mouse over to see the before.......

Hello my friends.....

Here we are again.... it's Tuesday!

Actually as I type this up it's still Monday... but anyhow....

How are you?  How was your weekend?

Are you ready for another TT Party... a little word inspiration this time around!

Woo hoo....I love WORDS...

So, my image today has a fab quote...but you probably can't see it very well.... The photo is much prettier large...I love this quote....and I'm thinking it needs to be painted!

'Let go of the past and go for the future. Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you imagined.' ~ Henry David Thoreau

How completely inspired is that?  Can I hear a YES! PLEASE...AMEN?  :)

Today's image is part of a series of blossom photos that I took this afternoon. I will definitely share more from the shoot...cause I'm so loving them! :)

I added a sepia effect to this image.  Here's the sooc shot (straight out of camera)...before I added the sepia layer and texture.... and I have to say I love it just as it is.... But it's always fun to play...and create!

Here's how I processed today's TT photo.....

  • Layer 1- base image
  • Layer 2- Hue/Saturation adjustment, selected the colorize box and adjusted the sliders to 30,25,0.  Reduced the opacity to 30% to allow the soft pink to show thru.
  • Layer 3-Added the text on a path (a photoshop cs feature)
  • Layer 4 - added the texture 'the letter' from my Studio Collection... (love this scripted texture). Added a layer mask and removed the texture from the blossoms...
  • Layer 5 - added a levels adjustment... moving the mid-tone slider to reduce the light just a bit.
  • Layer 6- Added a vignette. Created a new blank layer. Brushed around the border with a soft round black brush at 50% opacity. Changed the blend mode to soft light.

That's it...that's all.

I'm really excited to see what you all have created!!

Remember today's TT photo must contain words...  either in the photo itself or added during processing..... plus at least one layer of any of my textures.

And before we begin... let's talk theme or no theme for next week......

Next Week's Texture Tuesday Challenge Details

I'm thinking perhaps we should make it another Free & Easy eDition.... What's that, you may ask?

Easy-Peasy... simply add any of my textures to one of your fav images...and share, share, share.....

New to Texture Tuesday, please check out the Texture Tuesday details page and join on in!

If you are unsure how to go about adding your image, check out the video on the TT page.

Thanks bunches..... as always....

love and gratitude....

xxo,

p.s.

wanna get down to business? learn the ins and outs of photoshop cs or photoshop elements?

Check out my Essentials eCourse, that begins on June 21st. It's good stuff! :)

Just love this pic Kim. The tones are so full of peace and beauty. I like how you have blended the background to white. It really works. Great stuff!

Kim, this image is beautiful! I love the soft text in the background and how you were able to seemingly type your text along the lines of the branches. Very cool!

Peace!

Amen to your quote, Kim! Good words to meditate on as well as live them! Beautiful blossoms!! Always appreciative of the time you take to list your process. Your blossoms make me want to head far North to take in Spring all over again. Thanks for throwing such an inspiring party! Xo

I am so lovin' texture tuesday...especially this week because I love, love words, too! And I agree, your "entry" should definitely be a painting; it's gorgeous:)

Yeah I did it. I've been wanting to join, so this morning I did it. Your art is so incredible and very inspiring.
I do have a question for you tho. when I'm in PE 9 and I want to add text, I have to reduce the size of my image down to 1000 pixels to add text at the highest size, 72. and I would like the words, letters to be bigger still. Is there a way around having to resize? am I missing something? If you can help me that would be awesome and if not thats ok too. I'll keep researching it.
peace n abundance,
CheyAnne

The Thoreau quote is one that I have heard and admired. Amen to that! Both your images are beautiful!!! I'm really loving the pinks in your sooc shot. But then again, pink/purple are a couple of my favorite colors :)

Kim...This weekly meme is especially meaningful to me in my endeavor to use texture and layers. I am plugging away one little step at a time. Tomorrow is my last day at school for 2 months, so I am going to go back through each of your two courses lesson by lesson. Thank you for all of your lovely textures you so graciously share with all of us. I adore the way you put the text along the stems in the first shot. How clever and interesting. Hope you have a wonderful rest of the week. genie
