{Texture Tuesday} The Yesteryear eDition

mouse over to see the before texture image

Hello sweet friends.... I'm back!

OH my gosh... with the holiday Monday... I almost forgot to put together our TT Party Post!

I did take that trip to the greenhouse this weekend....and it was completely FABULOUS...

I have lots of lovely photos to share... but for today...just this one... textured with last week's 'yesteryear' texture!

I'm really looking forward to seeing what you all do with it!

So, just a reminder....for today's Texture Tuesday - your image must contain at least one layer of the 'yesteryear' texture.  If you missed downloading it...  Click HERE to grab it.

I thought you may like the recipe for this image.... it's pretty easy peasy.... I must say. Here goes....

Layer 1 - background image

Layer 2 - 'yesteryear' texture at soft light blend mode 100% opacity.

Layer 3 - Hue/Saturation adjustment (yellow channel selected set saturation to -41) to tone down the greens in the background....selected the layer mask and brushed over the posies with a black soft round brush at 60% opacity to remove the adjustment and allow the fleurs to POP....

Layer 4 - Levels adjustment layer - bumped up the blacks a bit to create it a little contrast

Layer 5 - Used a white soft round brush at 65% opacity and brushed to soften the darker corner and edges of the image....lowered the opacity of the layer to about 40%.  Applied a gaussian blur filter to the layer to soften the brush strokes.

The End

Okie doke... let's see... we need a challenge/theme for next week..... Hmmmmm.....

spin....spin...goes my little brain.......

You all sure do not disappoint...  you completely step up to the challenge EVERY TIME... it's really quite inspired...

Okay, can you tell I'm stalling?

spin.....spin......

Okay, I have it!!

The Texture Tuesday - May 31st Challenge details are.....

Let's make next week all about gardening....  that can be anything from a flower image, a watering can, seeds in your hands..... a trip to the greenhouse.... a seed packet, a gardening book.... gardening gloves... Okay I will stop. :)  You get the idea.....

Bring it on..... :)

As usual your image must be processed with at least one of my textures.... any which one you wish.....

Sound like a plan?

Okie doke....let the fun begin...

Texture Tuesday - The Yesteryear eDition is in session.

If you are new to TT.... please click HERE to get the details.  The collection will remain open until Saturday evening....so you have lots of time to share......

I can't wait to see all the fabulous variations.....  Love and gratitude......

xxo,

p.s. After several requests, I decided to run The Essentials eCourse one more time before Fall.  You can find the details HERE.

And here's a secret discount code ..... to save $20.00 this week only.... use the code 'summerloving' in the discount box....  This is our little secret.....  wink, wink....nudge...nudge.. :)

.....

Please post your image below using the 'yesteryear' texture.

Hi Kim, once again you have a spectacular photo and editing... I guess we can expect no different from you!! I totally love the color combinations in that photo and the fact that only one element is the focal point. I also love the blurry look both near and far from the main flower. Thanks, it's lovely

Beautiful editing. Must practice to capture your tricks, still much to learn. Thanks!

Kim, this is an inspiring image. I really thank you for listing the steps and explaining why you did certain things. For instance, you said you selected the yellow channel (hue/saturation) to tone down the greens in the background. And using a white brush to tone down the dark corners. This is really helpful.

I love your shot, I find it kind of difficult to make tasteful texture edit with green garden shots, I don't know why but have to practice:)

Kim, I've only been peeking in all day linking to all the terrific submissions and in all my excitement and wonder have forgotten to leave a comment for you! But I've had the pleasure of mousing over your beautiful photo multiple times now and I haven't changed my mind...this is awesome! Such a painterly effect...the original and your texturized version. So happy to hear you enjoyed your outing to the greenhouse. One of my favorite things to do...used to do a whole lot more of it when we lived in a winter climate eons ago. Nothing like a cup of coffee in hand {or a camera!} and getting lost in the splendor of the visit. Thanks so much for hosting this, for the inspiration and for the yummy textures! Xo, Sue

My first attempt at Texture Tuesday. You can probably tell, two links and for some reason the thumbnail didn't show =( Oh well, there's always next week. And, in the meantime, I will just enjoy all the other posts. Truly lots of beautiful work here!

I looked for your 'Everyday Ben' and the page wouldn't show up. I hope everything is ok!
I had a dog named Bentley and called him Ben all the time. It was the perfect doggy name!
He is in Doggie Heaven now and was the love of my life.
