The Essentials eCourse and a Photoshop Recipe

mouse over for the before - recipe below

Hello Lovelies,

How are you?

I wanted to give a shout out... to all of you that have ordered my new Studio Texture Collection!!  Thank you!!

I can't wait to see what you all create with them!

Please be sure to share your link with me.... You are welcome to post a link in the comments, anytime.

I also wanted to let you know, my eCourse The Essentials starts this coming Tuesday, the 15th.

If you are interested, you can find all the details HERE

It's really a fabulous course....full of information....

Here's what just a few of my past students had to say about it.....

What a great class.  A must do for all beginners.  Kim starts you out with the very basics and leads you simply through them so you understand not only what to use, but how to use it to get the effects you want on your image.  I debated taking this class, since I'm not a beginner, but I quickly found I learned lots of things I didn't know, especially shortcuts to make the work go quicker.  I also learned how to use tools I'd avoided, simply because I didn't know what they did or how to use them.   ~ Glory

let me say that I am sooo happy with your classes. I took a class at a local vocational school a year ago and I swear I didn't learn anything!!!! It was all technical stuff that just didn't compute in my brain.....I almost gave up on photoshop all together after that class thinking I just wasn't smart enough!!! I am so glad I pursued photoshop and signed up for your classes......I am eternally grateful to you!! ~ Sally

I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed the Photoshop Essentials class. I honestly think it was the best e-course that I have ever taken on any subject. I have been using Photoshop for several years and primarily use it to edit photos for my blog and website. You taught me so many things about the software that I did not know. Your presentation style is just perfect for e-learning. Thanks very much! ~ Vicki

Now let's talk recipes.
Photoshop Recipes that is!
I thought I would share my Photoshop Recipe for today's image.
I used 'plaster2' and 'scratchedmagic' on this from The Studio Collection.
Here's what I did.
Added a layer of plaster2 at soft light blend mode.  Remove the texture from the vase and reduced the layer opacity to 55%.
I then added a layer of 'scratchedmagic' at sceen blend mode. I removed some of the scratches that were covering the daisies and reduced the layer opacity down to 28%.
Next I added a hue/saturation adjustment layer and reduced the saturation to -33.
Then I added a s-curve adjustment layer to up the contrast.  Elements users, you can do this with the levels adjustment very easily, just adjust the sliders to give your image a little pop.
And finally I added another curves adjustment. I pulled the center up, ever so slightly to lighten the image. Again, elements users, you can do this with levels.  Just pull the white slider in a little.
And that is that.... :)
Give it a try on one of your images. I loved to see how it goes.

I am just bursting to try the new textures, but my Photoshop has a problem :~( I posted a question last night on the Adobe Forum and am trying the suggested remedies. Downloading the latest Snow Leopard update right now~~it's so frustrating to have a technical problem when one isn't a techie :~/
