Two New Textures and a Few Updates

mouse over to see the original

Hello friends...happy Sunday.... It's a long weekend here in Canada... not sure about the rest of the beautiful world? yes? no?... My boys are all enjoying the fact that they have an extra long weekend.....Me, personally.... well, I find long weekends cut my 'work' week up....  which rarely ever feels like work... So I'm not nearly as excited about the holiday.... 'smile'.... But it's all good!!

So, I have several tidbits for you today.......

First, your new textures! I used both on my image up top..... Check out the magazine (Somerset Life)... I've booked an hour with myself on the front porch to soak it up after I take Ben out... woo hoo!

Anyhow, here's today's lovelies...  they have great chalky qualities... which I really like in a texture.

Texture Lovin' Listers... the download link is coming your way. Not on the list, click HERE to sign up and start receiving freebies right away.

Here's my recipe for the photo above.

Opened the image in Lightroom.... tweaked the exposure, and reduced the saturation a little. Added a little tone curve bump...then headed right into photoshop to work with texture and type..... I added a layer of today's 'printed' at soft light 75% opacity and then a layer of 'way' at soft light 100%. Finally I added the quote.... The font is Afta Serif.

As promised I must announce the give away winner of, The Natural Home.....

Drum roll please....  Congrats to Sarah. Please send me a note so I can get you all hooked up with the book.

Nice! I'm so glad you won the book, Sarah! It's fun to play Kim's challenges and discover someone I've connected with won the prize. ;->
Congratulations Sarah on winning that lovely book.

Kim,
Can't wait to dig into the new textures and try the latest Test Kitchen recipe. I've been with you well over a year now and my tummy still tingles when your emails pop into my inbox. The excitement never goes away. Always ready to try something new and your generosity is overwhelming.
THANK YOU AGAIN.

Hi Kim,,
Great post today - I'm loving the photos and textures. The gerberas are so happy, I think that's why I love them. I had to pick up some bright yellow ones yesterday (even though pink is still my fav color) because they inject so much sunshine into the room.

Question: I had trouble finding the dates that your new class Round Trip will be running, could you please let me know? I want to upgrade my Lightroom 3 before it starts (even though I still don't know how to use that version - ha ha!).

Happy weekend to you,
Sharon

I just had to give you a high 5 and a squeeze ... no reason ... just because you have become so much a part of my life. You have motivated me to expand waaayyyy beyond what I would have tried 6 months ago. Unfortunately ... I have veered off into realms other than our 'homework', but it is your encouraging voice I always have in the back of my brain ... be it Beyond, Reflections, this blog or whatever. You are just AWESOME!! and thank you for that:-)

Congratulations Sarah, it looks like a lovely book!

Kim, ... you should be booking more YOU time on the porch these days. You give so much and I'm sure you forget about yourself too often. Nice to see you taking some now.

As always, thank you for all you do for us ... you are an amazing person and I feel privileged to be included in all the awesome things you share. These are gorgeous textures.

Have a lovely long weekend my friend.

Hugs, Joy xo

Hi Kim,
You may have discussed this in one of your tutorials, but I've not been able to find it. How do you stamp your text circle on a four image collage such as the one you have for your watercolor texture set? I've saved my circle text as a brush preset, I think, but don't know how to use it as you have done.
Thanks,
Lynne
